As a robotic caretaker in The Last Caretaker, you are the sole hope for Humanity’s comeback. To ensure that things run smoothly, you need to work on your crafting, gathering, and survival by unlocking the necessary skills. This will ensure that you can manage your new environment and make progress in the game. If you are wondering which skills are the best ones to unlock early in the game, this guide has you covered.

During early gameplay, your main focus falls on the first three tiers of your skill tree. Unlocking the skills here doesn’t require a lot of skill points, and these are some of the best skills to increase your chances of survival quite early on. All skills at Tier 1 are already unlocked for you, which just includes the Flashlight and the Repair Tool. You need to start working on your Tier 2 and Tier 3 skills, and some of the best skills to unlock are listed below.

Top 5 Tier 2 Skills to Unlock

    SkillDescription
Dismantle ToolA tool that turns items into scraps. Useful for turning larger junk into smaller scraps, which makes it easier to carry them to the Recycler. The more you use the Dismantel Tool, the faster your internal battery gets drained.
Electric CableA basic requirement to connect devices to the electric source. Helps in powering up various devices to advance the game.
Electric Cable ExtenderGoes hand in hand with the Electric Cable. Connect the Electric Cable to the Extender device to route electricity to devices from the power source. Handy to use if your devices are located too far from the power source. Requires 1x Plastic and 1x Iron to craft.
LumiliteA requirement while trying to start your voyage over the sea. This item acts as a solar panel to power up your boat. Requires Electric Cables to recharge it, or uses up the power of the sun as well. To craft a LumiLite, you will require 1x Solar Cell, 1x Alloy Frame, and 1x Connector Ports.
Basic Electric Engine CylinderUse it to store electricity to run your ship. Unlocks for free once you reach Tier 2.

Top 5 Tier 3 Skills to Unlock

    SkillDescription
WhisperWhile LumiLite helps power up your boat during the day, you can’t depend entirely on solar power at night. Whispers work by powering up the boat using wind power. Connect these to your battery using Electric Cables to continue charging up your boat.
DurapackA portable inventory to store items while you travel. If you have exceeded your carry weight, then using the Durapack helps you carry and store items for later. Requires 2x Alloy Frame and 1x Display Screen to craft.
Electric PistolEarly game ranged weapon used to kill enemies and defend yourself. Requires 1x Battery Cell, 1x Alloy Frame, 1x Connector Ports, and 1x Conduit Wiring to craft.
Small BatteryA basic power source that supplies faster charge to various electronic items like the Electric Pistol, the boat, and even yourself. Requires 1x Battery Cell and 1x Connector Port to craft.
Consumable BatteryA portable power source that you can carry with you. While the power supply is limited, you get to charge up anything in a pinch. Requires 1x Iron and 1x Fabric to craft.

    How to Get Skill Points

Each time you level up your robot by earning XP, you earn one skill point. To level up your robot, perform all in-game duties and keep playing to earn XP. All activities within The Last Caretaker help farm XP, even if you are out gathering supplies, exploring, or completing quests. Each time you rank up, you get one Skill Point to use in your skill tree and unlock new abilities and blueprints. Keep checking the bottom right section of the main menu to know your current XP level and the XP required to upgrade your level.

Once you have unlocked the required skills to survive The Last Caretaker, you are one step closer to exploring the unknown and reviving Humanity.
