Starsand Island – All Vehicles and How to Unlock Them

Starsand Island has a relatively large map, so you’ll want to use vehicles to travel between areas faster. While you can unlock vehicles almost right at the start of the game, actually getting one that’s decently speedy will take more time, regardless of whether you buy it or build it yourself.

There are quite a few different vehicles you can get in Starsand Island. These include simple vehicles like a skateboard or bamboo raft, which are faster than running or swimming, but aren’t exactly fast overall. Of course, the simple vehicles are much easier to get than better options.

Starsand Island – How to unlock Vehicle Blueprints

Since Starsand Island is in early access, it’s possible that more vehicles will be added to the game later. However, in the current version of the game, you’ll unlock the majority of vehicles from Neona right after you meet her by stopping by her shop, G-Power Bike.

G-Power Bike sells some vehicles that are ready to ride as soon as you purchase them. Otherwise, you can also purchase a number of vehicle blueprints from the shop that you can build yourself. While the blueprints are somewhat cheaper, they’ll take more time and effort to ride, because you have to actually gather the materials for crafting and put everything together.

When you’re just starting out in the game, you’ll likely want to get the Reindeer Blueprint for 29,800 instead of the already built Reindeer for 85,000, as it’s the cheapest option that still has decent utility. Otherwise, you can rent vehicles, such as the groups of scooters you find on the sides of streets in town.

Starsand Island – How to get Vehicles from Crafter Quests

As a nice bonus, you’ll get two simple vehicles from the crafter main quests. Zerine has you make a skateboard almost immediately, which you get to keep after completing the quest. It’s not the fastest vehicle, but it’s nice to have when you can’t afford any other options.

Then, you’ll also get the blueprint for the Verdant Breeze rollerblades shortly after meeting Neona, which is another part of the crafter quests. Again, it’s not the fastest option, but I’ve gotten some use out of it while not having better vehicle options.

Starsand Island – How to use Mounts as Vehicles

When you pick up ranching, you’ll be able to use animals like alpacas as mounts to ride after they’re adults and you reach a certain level of happiness with them. Again, these are slower options than what Neona offers, but it’s still useful. It’s also kind of fun, especially if you aren’t in a hurry, but also don’t want to move at the standard running speed to get to your destination.

If you go to the ranch, you can go into the pen with alpacas and ostriches and rent one to ride as a mount. Like every rental, you only have access for a few days. However, you can keep renewing the rentals, and it doesn’t cost much to do so.

In essence, the best approach to unlocking vehicles in Starsand Island is to first start the crafter main quests with Zerine. This leads you right to Neona, who gives you a free rental when you meet her and opens up the ability to purchase vehicles and blueprints. Then, you’ll also be lead right into crafting a skateboard.
