If you sided with the Ward, you will soon find yourself in the Chemical Plant region chasing the Soul Artifact for Mateus but you’ll also come across a scientist who is in search of the same artifact. Should You Give Soul Artifact To Mateus Or The Scientist In Stalker 2?
This decision of giving the artifact to Mateus or the scientist in Stalker 2 won’t have a major impact on your story as this is a side mission. You do get slightly more credits if you give the artifact to the Scientist, though you stand to lose on a chance to increase your reputation with the Ward. We have described both scenarios and how they play out below.
What Happens If You Give The Artifact To Mateus?
Taking the Soul Artifact back to Mateus during the All That Is Left quest will make Mateus appreciate your effort and be impressed by it. He will express how it’s the last valuable thing that was left behind when he and his comrades were attacked which resulted in his friend Budnik being used as a test subject.
He will then reward you with 3,500 coupons for your effort and it will complete this side quest. If you are trying to side with the Ward and keep a good reputation with them, this is the option you should go for as it will support the Ward in their effort to bring order to the Zone.
What Happens If You Give The Artifact To The Scientist?
After you find and pick up the Soul Artifact during the ‘All That Is Left’ quest in Stalker 2, you will be contacted by Professor Zaretyski, the scientist who seemingly caused Mateus’ comrade Budnik to die after he was used as a test subject. She will let you know that she needs that artifact you just found and that you should meet her near the entrance of the Chemical Plant. , at least according to Mateus.
You will find her toward the south of the Chemical Plant in an area known as Chemical Tanks. You will find it inside a building at the northern entrance of this location. Giving the Artifact to the Scientist will reward you with 4319 Coupons.
If you do not care about keeping your reputation with the Ward, you should choose this option as this will make Mateus dislike you. You can still go back and talk to Mateus to tell him you didn’t find the Artifact to which he will just tell you to get lost and question why you are even here.
Since you are caught between a tough decision, you should also know what happens if you shoot Solder or knock him out in Stalker 2.
