The Shrine Path in Silent Hill f features two unique puzzles that need to be solved in a particular order for completion. In a true Silent Hill fashion, the game’s difficulty will influence the correct order of the puzzle. Here we have covered the Shrine Path Altar and Vault Puzzle in Story, Hard, and Lost in the Fog difficulty.

Shrine Path Altar Puzzle 

Here we have five items all gathered on the plate next to the altar. Our job is to place the items on their respective altar to complete the puzzle. The order of all the items stays the same (Paper Fan (1st item)> Vase (2nd item) > Rat (3rd item)> Kimono (4th item)> Fish (5th item)), but the placement for each one changes from one difficulty to another.

Story Difficulty

• Take the fourth item (Kimono) and place it on the first altar at the front.
• Place the second item (Vase) on the middle altar at the front.           
• Place the first item (Paper Fan) on the third altar, located at the front.
• Now place the fifth item (Fish) on the altar at the back right.
• Finally, place the third item (Rat) on the altar at the back left.

Hard Difficulty

• Take the first item (Paper Fan) and put it on the first altar at the front.
• Set the second item (Vase) on the middle altar at the front.               
• Place the third item (Rat) on the third altar, located at the front.
• Now put the fourth item (Kimono) on the altar at the back right.
• And lastly, set the fifth item (Fish) on the altar at the back left.

Lost in the Fog Difficulty

• Put the first item (Paper Fan) and place it on the first altar at the front.
• Now, place the fourth item (Kimono) on the middle altar at the front.                    
• Put the second item (Vase) on the third altar at the front.
• Set the third item (Rat) on the altar at the back right.
• And now, place the fifth item (Fish) on the altar at the back left.

After completing the Shrine Path Altar puzzle, a cutscene will trigger.

Shrine Path Vault Puzzle 

Here you will find EMA boards at three different locations. Our job is to find and flip a specific EMA board to reveal the secret symbol inside. Then you must remember the symbols, as you will get a Combination Lock to open the door. You will have access to all three spots, but the question is what type of symbol should you flip on the EMA boards?

Story Difficulty

Here, you need to look out for Crane/ Serpent/ Tortoise.

• The Crane EMA board will have a circle with a horizontal line.
• Seprent EMA board will have a circle, but with a vertical line.
• The Tortoise EMA board will have a snake with a small V shape in the middle.

On the Combination Lock, you must select: circle with horizontal line first, circle with a vertical line second, and lastly snake with v symbol on the third.

Hard Difficulty

Here, you must keep an eye on: Lightning/ Decayed Tree/Kudzu.

• The Lightning EMA board will have a circle with two vertical lines.
• The Decayed Tree EMA board will have a circle with a cross.
• The Kudzu EMA board will have a square with a T shape in the middle.

After unlocking the Combination Lock Dial, use the combination mentioned above: circle with two vertical lines first, circle with a cross symbol second, and lastly square with a T symbol third to complete it.

Lost in the Fog Difficulty

In this difficulty, you must look out for Yokai of the Carriage/ Yokai of the Umbrella/ Yokai of the Kettle.

• Yokai of the Carriage EMA board will have a circle with two vertical lines in it.
• Yokai of the Umbrella EMA board will have a circle with an upside-down Y in it.
• And Yokai of the Kettle EMA board will have a snake with a small V in the middle.

Now use the Combination Lock Dial to put a circle with two vertical lines first, a circle with upside-down Y second, and a snake with a small V in the middle third to unlock the door.

After completing the Shrine Vault Ema Boards Puzzle, you will open the door with the Combination Lock Dial. Inside, you will find the Stone Key.
