In the latest installment of Rune Factory, you would be on a lookout to find all bosses and try to tame them. While exploring Spring Village, you will be led to the first boss of the game, Mezuki. Defeating Mezuki is integral to the main storyline, hence why you need to prepare yourself to face this monster. This guide will give you everything there is to know about defeating Mezuki in Rune Factory.

    Mezuki Boss Fight Guide RFGoA

You will encounter the Mezuki while exploring the Abandoned Shrines in Spring Village during the quest to find Takumi. This is part of the main storyline, so you will be led here automatically. Mezuki is a level 5 boss, and can be quite intimidating during the early stages of the game, hence why you need to prepare yourself for the fight.

    Mezuki Boss Fight Preparation

You need to work on your loadout so you can quickly beat Mezuki. We will list out the best equipment, gear, and party members to have below.

    • Best Weapon: Dull Sword
    • Best Headgear: Ronin Hat
    • Best Pauldron: Hide Pauldron
    • Best Accessory: Cheap Bracelet

You wouldn’t get a lot of high level weapons right at the start of the game, so you can use any weapon that you get for the fight. For us, the Dull Sword worked well, but you can choose any starter weapon if you get them. As for the equipment, the above headgear, pauldron, and accessory can improve your defensive stats, and you can get these items through scavenging around the Abandoned Mines itself. You can also get these items by chance while looking through the chests in Spring Highlands.

    Best Party Members

Party members won’t be unlocked during your initial run of the boss fight, but you can fight the boss during subsequent turns to earn more rewards. During that time, you can unlock and bring in the following members for the fight for increased defense and healing.

    • Defender – Iroha
    • Buffer – Suzu
    • Healer – Ulalaka

Since Mezuki is quite challenging to beat, you need to be prepared to dodge most of its attacks. Besides this, each time you land a hit, keep an eye on the gauge below the enemy’s health bar. This is the stun bar, and filling it up is your first priority. Keep trying to land some hits, even if you don’t get to deal a lot of damage, as this can quickly fill up the stun meter.

The more you use your weapons for combos, the more you can charge it up. Wait till the stun meter is filled, then use your charged attacks to deal a significant amount of damage. You can use up to 3 charged attacks to reduce Mezuki’s HP in half. Besides this, the boss is weak towards Earth damage, so use Earth Drum attacks to deal additional damage. If you want to end the battle even faster, then performing Divine Dance is a surefire way to one-shot the boss.

Also, Mezuki’s attacks are predicted beforehand, so time your dodges and get out of the way before it can land its hits on you. Performing a Perfect Dodge will also stun the boss, and you can use your combo attacks right after. Just focus on this plus filling up the Stun Meter so you can quickly tackle the boss and continue with the rest of the quest.

    Mezuki Boss Fight Rewards

After defeating Mezuki, you can rescue and unlock Takumi and have them added as another Villager. Takumi is the village Carpenter, and the only person who can help you craft and build new structures within the village. If you wish to defeat Mezuki during subsequent runs, then you can get the below random rewards.

    • Rich Soil
    • Red Soil
    • Iron
    • Earth Crystal

Mezuki isn’t the only boss to fight while exploring Spring Village, as you can encounter the Cursed Tree here as well. If you wish to know how to tame the Cursed Tree in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, we have a guide on that here.
