Rune Factory has now come up with yet another exciting RPG, where you get to explore the eastern lands of Azuma. Fighting, capturing, and raising monsters is one of the tasks you have to do as an Earth Dancer, and you can also befriend and add bosses to your base to get their boosts. The Cursed Tree is one of the earliest boss encounters in the game, and this guide will detail how to tame and befriend the Cursed Tree in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.
How to Tame Monsters in RFGoA

You can start taming monsters as soon as you progress through the main story quests and revive the God of Autumn, Kurama. After that, you will get a unique quest to help an NPC tame a Buffamoo using the Sacred Plum Branch. With this, do the Dance of Bonds near the beast till you get a smiley face icon on top of them. Then, attack and defeat the creature, and interact with it once its health is zero.
You will get two options; to either befriend them with gifts, or send them to the First Beginnings. Gift giving is random, and you can pull out anything from your inventory or storage to hand it over. If they like the gift, a flower icon will appear over them. If not, you will get an angry icon instead. You will have three attempts to give them the right gift, and failure to find even one will stop the taming process. Sometimes, even if the creature likes the gift, you will still fail the taming process, so this largely depends on RNG.
Building a Barn

After successfully taming a creature, it will be automatically sent to any of your completed barns. You should have a barn ready for this beforehand. Head over to any village and build one. There are two types of barns to build, and each of them will require different materials and offer different storage facilities. Below are the types of barns you can build in RFGoA.
- Barn – Requires 35x Lumber and 15x Stone. Offers 4 storage units.
- Large Barn – Requires 100x Lumber and 40x Stone. Offers 8 storage units.
Once your barn is completed, assign a Herder by heading into the Villagers menu, then selecting the village where the barn is. Then, select any villager and assign their job as Herding. You don’t have to worry about taking care of your monster now, as someone will do it for you. They will also collect any byproducts dropped by the monster periodically.
Taming the Cursed Tree
The Cursed Tree is a level 15 boss that can be found in Guardian Grove. After unlocking the Spring Region, you can quickly spot this area and head over there to try and befriend the monster. There is one particular item you need to carry on you as an offering, and that is the Wind Crystal. This item drops from Lanterns and the Cursed Tree itself. You can defeat the Cursed Tree, get the item, and then return the next day to befriend them. If you have 10,000 gold to spare, you can also visit Hisui’s store in Summer Village to purchase it.
Alongside the Wind Crystal, the Cursed Tree will also occupy 4 barn slots, so keep some empty spaces ready for its arrival. Follow through with the rest of the taming process, and the Cursed Tree will be yours for the taking. You can then visit your barn anytime to find this creature, and you can take it in your party to battle other enemies and level them up.
