When you start a quest without talking to anyone but just by grabbing something off the floor, you are in for a surprise, as the quest can go either way. Especially when the directions to the next step are left vague and unclear, like in the Ancient Vows quest in Path of Exile 2. How To Start Ancient Vows Quest In Path Of Exile 2
The Ancient Vows Quest unlocks during The City of Seven Waters questline. The quest automatically pops into your journal once you pick up either the Sun Clan Relic or the Kabala Clan Relic, you can never pick both of them.
Once you have one of these relics in your inventory, the only objective to finish the quest is to collect the other one. If you have the Kabala Clan Relic, then you need to hunt the Sun Clan Relic and vice versa.
Note: The location details of any of the areas on the map will be different for your playstyle but the name and the areas will stay the same. So we can’t give you the proper destination of the locations on the map, you must use the names to hunt down the locations for yourself.
Quest Description will read “Find something that can be placed on the altar.“
Location Of Sun Clan Relic
If the quest started by picking the Kabala Clan Relic, then you will need to obtain the Sun Clan Relic to finish the quest.
Location: Mastodon Badlands
- Run around the map and kill any enemy in the area. They might drop the Sun Clan Relic on the floor.
- There is an RNG system behind it, but it’s not always going to be a 100% guarantee that you will get the drop right away. But slaying monsters within this region have a higher chance of Sun Clan Relic popping up in the game.
If you already have the Sun Clan Relic, move on to the next section to complete the relic.
Location Of Kabala Clan Relic
If the quest started with the Sun Clan Relic, then you must obtain the Kabala Clan Relic.
Location: Keth
Kill enemies in the region of Keth, and you will have a higher chance of seeing Kabala Clan Relic. Here look for specific snake enemies, and slay as many of them as possible. And you will quickly see Kabala Clan Relic on the floor.
That’s it, now that we obtained both of the relics, it is time to finish the quest and get the reward.
Rewards On Completing Ancient Vows Quest
Location: Valley of the Titans
When you have both the Kabala Clan and Sun Clan Relic, head over to Valley of the Titans. Now make your way to the Offering to Amrit section. While the map can change for every playthrough, some of the details stay intact.
Note: The offering place will be in different parts of the Valley of the Titans. But it will never be outside of the map.
When you reach the Valley of Titans, look for the stairs on either left or right, a giant status will be on the top of the stairs look at a medallion below. Once here place the relics at the altar, and you will see both of them on the screen. Here the game hands you two options:
- 30% Increased Charm Charge Gain
- 10% Mana Flask Recovery
You can only activate one of them, so make sure to choose the one that is best suited for your playstyle.
Quest Description will read “You have inserted the Sun Clan and Kabala Clan Relics and can now choose to side with one of the Clans and receive a permanent reward.“
