PEAK Climbing Guide: How To Use Rope Spool, Rope Cannon & Piton

While exploring the mountainside of PEAK, you will come across various resources to make your climb much easier. You also have to keep a track on your stamina while you make the climb, hence why you need to search for climbing tools as soon as possible. The Rope Cannon, Spool, and Piton are some of the pivotal tools to use in PEAK, and this guide will explain how to use them all.

To use the Rope Spool, use your mouse wheel to unravel it, then hold the LMB on the surface where you wish to place it. Your character will automatically tie a knot to keep the rope in place, and other players below can use it to make the climb up.

The Rope Spool is the basic tool that you will encounter quite early in the game. While scavenging through the abandoned luggage hidden within the mountain crevices or around the crash site, you might come across a coil of rope.

To use the Rope Cannon, look up and aim at the spot where you wish to climb, then press the LMB to launch the rope.

It will work similarly to a grapple hook, and will fix itself to a suitable surface up ahead. The Rope Cannon does have limited range, so it can’t go too far ahead. Once it is fixed, you and your teammates can use it to climb up quickly and save a lot of time.

Rope Cannons are another item that you can find within abandoned luggage, but they only appear a bit later into the climb. While not as common as the Rope Spool, the Rope Cannon is much more handy to use once you find it.

Unlike the Rope Cannon and Rope Spool, the Piton acts as a resting point during your climb. You can attach the Piton to the mountain’s wall and use it as a rest point between climbs. While this item can be used by multiple players, it can break with repeated use. Pitons are the rarest items to find, and are also found within luggage.
