Oblivion Remastered: Return Or Keep The Honorblade of Chorrol?

When a quest lands you with an amazing sword, the last thing you want to do is return it for the sake of quest completion. Oblivion Remastered, just like many Elder Scrolls games, gives you the decision of keeping the quest item for yourself or giving it away to complete the quest. Here in the guide, we will look at the decision-making behind Honorblade of Chorrol: Should you return it or keep it for yourself?

Should You Return the Honorblade of Chorrol In Oblivion Remastered?

Here you will have two options to complete the quest, and a third option to make the quest uncompleted. Let’s look at all the options to handle the Honorblade of Chorrol in Oblivion Remastered.

First Choice: Return the Honorblade of Chorrol to Laythe Wavrick at Castle Chorrol

Rewards: Escutcheon of Chorrol shield/ 4 Grand Soul Gems

Hand the Honorblade of Chorrol to Laythe Wavrick and complete the quest. You will obtain 4 Grand Soul Gems and the Escutcheon of Chorrol as a reward. Escutcheon of Chorrol is an enchanted shield that offers Reflect Damage and Endurance.

Making a proper option for anyone playing as a Warrior. But it is a tradeoff, since you will be returning the Honorblade of Chorrol sword to get a defensive item. If you are hunting for a good shield early in the game, trading the sword for a shield makes more sense.

Second Choice: Give the Honorblade of Chorrol to Fathis Ules

Reward: Gold based on your Level

You also have the option to hand the Honorblade of Chorrol to Fathis Ules, but you will not gain any new items after offering the blade. But you will be paid handsomely based on the Level of your character.

If you compare the reward of Fathis Ules to Laythe Wavrick, the shield will come in handy to a Warrior build, but if you are playing as a mage, not so much. Which highlights the second choice of anyone seeking just simple Gold for the quest completion. But in terms of the value of the reward, the shield will be preferable to Gold, since the game already offers an abundance of gold later in the game.

Third Choice: Keep the Honorblade of Chorrol to Yourself

    Enemies Oblivion Remastered

    Reward: Honorblade of Chorrol Sword

We recommend you keep the Honorblade of Chorrol sword, since it does a good amount of damage at the initial stages of the game. While it gets less effective with time, early on, it will carry you through most of the tougher enemies.

Note: If you decide to keep the sword, the quest will remain uncompleted, but it will not be broken or unfinished. You can always complete the quest by handing the blade back.

It is currently unknown how much money Fathis Ules will pay for the return of the Honorblade of Chorrol, since the amount of gold directly gets impacted by the Level of your character. In terms of value, we will put the reward of the Laythe Wavrick over the Fathis Ules, Escutcheon of Chorrol shield as a much better option than Gold.

The game has a lot of interesting side quests that you shouldn’t miss, and check out our guides on Go Fish and Through A Nightmare, Darkly quests in Oblivion Remastered.
