Some NPCs in Oblivion Remastered will offer some unique dialog options as you keep completing their quest. While exploring Mankar Camoran’s Paradise, you will spot a unique Dremora called Kathutet. He will be guarding the exit between the Savage Garden and the Flooded Grotto. You can choose to kill him, or attempt to help him in his quest. This guide will cover all Kathutet’s choices in Oblivion Remastered.
Option 1: Choose Battle

If you are persistent enough to fight Kathutet, he will eventually give in and engage in battle. Upon defeat, you can loot his corpse for the Bands of the Chosen gauntlet and go past to the Flooded Grotto. But this will stop his entire quest, which is to free a Xivilai called Anaxes. If you want a shortcut and get to your destination quickly, this is the way to go.
Option 2: Choose Service

You agree to help Kathutet to free Anaxes, and he will tell you where you can find him in a cave within the Savage Garden. There are a couple more outcomes that you will face while trying to free Anaxes. If Anaxes dies by no fault of yours or if you kill Anaxes yourself, then Kathutet will face you in battle.
If you rescue Anaxes as planned, you will receive the Bands of the Chosen and peacefully continue forward. You can also complete the quest in rescuing Anaxes, then force Kathutet to fight you one last time. This time, he will agree, and you can fight him to claim the gauntlets for yourself.
Which Option Should You Pick?
We took a short route and killed Kathutet straightaway, since you require the Bands of the Chosen to enter the Flooded Grotto. Saving Anaxes is just an extra, but is a good choice if you don’t want to fight Kathutet. If you are in no rush to complete the quest, then you can go ahead and try to save Anaxes and get into Kathutet’s good books. Or else, you can fight him, but you should keep in mind the following.
- He will use the Purging Flame greatsword in battle.
- He knows 2 major spells, namely Destruction and Mysticism, and 1 minor Apprentice Destruction spell.
- Kathutet also owns the Dremora Resist ability to give them resistance against various elements.
- He will also consume 1 potion each for combat, magic, and stealth or poison.
With this in mind, you can end this side objective to continue onwards with the rest of the game. We have a bunch more Oblivion Remastered guides like Where To Find All Clues & Evidence In Canvas the Castle Quest, Keep Or Exchange Umbra Sword, and How To Steal The Letter From Dairihill’s Office.
