MIO: Memories In Orbit – What Is The Mysterious Item?

If you’re a Metroidvania veteran, you’ll know how dense and obtuse Metroidvanias can be. You’ll get lost, miss nooks and crannies containing secrets, and probably never see half the bosses that these games contain. MIO is very much a game within this category.

It shrouds a lot of the narrative and progression in mystery, and in some cases, even some items you can purchase are completely hidden from the player.

The Mysterious Item you can buy in Haven is a pricy one, especially if you don’t know what you’re grinding all that Nacre for. But, if you want some insight, you’ll find it below.

Where to Get The Mysterious Item

    MIO Mysterious Item Spot

The Mysterious Item merchant is located in the upper region of Haven, along a path accessed via The Bell Tower. To access this area you will need Hairpin and Sail at the very least.

You will find the bot standing at the exact point on the map shown here.

    What Is The Mysterious Item?

You might think that for a whopping 10,000 Nacre, you would be getting a game-changing item. But, to be honest, unless you’re a completionist, this purchase is going to be a bit of a letdown.

The item you gain here is a modifier known as Perfect State. A mod that gives you more damage output when you are at maximum health. A mod that can be put to good use for sure, especially for skilled players that rarely take a hit. But generally speaking, it isn’t all that helpful compared to more easily accessible mods.

    Best Way To Grind Nacre

    Promenade Entrance Grind Spot

If you’re keen to grind for this mod, I would suggest heading to the Promenade Entrance overseer. Here, just left of the spawn point, you’ll find a pincer robot enemy that can be killed very quickly and respawned in a 10-20 second loop.

This will grant you about 90 Nacre per kill, meaning you can have 10,000 Nacre saved up in just under 40 minutes.

For best results, you’ll want to also have the Effective Dismantlement Mod equipped.

Callum has been around the block within the gaming industry, working as an Editor-in-chief for a number of well-respected gaming outlets; he has worked as a games tester, he has gaming podcast experience, and he has worked in gaming PR. Basically, you name it, and Callum was probably there or somewhere on the periphery. Outside of gaming, Callum loves skateboarding despite his immediate family telling him to grow up, and he is also known to watch the British sitcom Peep Show on repeat and will go toe-to-toe with anyone on Peep Show trivia.
