Like any self-respecting Metroidvania, MIO: Memories In Orbit has a ton of paths to unlock that hide your next area of progression in order to eventually reach the end of the game. In Mio, this takes form in various locked gates and doorways that you’ll need to find some sort of key for.
The Aviaries Passepartout is one such example, and it’s a locked gate that you’ll likely come across early on in your playthrough. But just where do you find the required Passepartout in order to see what’s waiting behind its gate?
Fret not, little robot explorers. Below, we’ll tackle everything you need to know in order to find what you need so you can keep moving forward.

Where Is The Aviaries Passepartout Door?

If you’re like me, you’ll find this locked gate pretty early on in your time with MIO: Memories In Orbit. It looks like a sort of ornate birdcage, practically begging you to open it up and set free whatever waits on the other side.

The gate can be found at the point on the map above, and sits directly over where you’ve already encountered Shii the Overseer in the Nexus below. The first elevator you’ll locate in MIO can get you there, just west of Shii’s location.
You’ll know you’re in the right place when you come across Noden, the Spine. This giant entity is watching over a bridge that’s usually populated with a Librarian, pondering endlessly about when Noden will finally come back to life.
Where Is The Aviaries Passepartout Itself?

The location of the Aviaries Passepartout itself is fairly close by to the southeast in the Feral Undergrowth, but carries the prerequisite of tracking down the Silo Access Badge too.
Once you have the badge, you can open the gate immediately to the right of the Nexus Overseer and keep progressing onwards.
Head to the lower chamber that’s marked on the map above, and get ready for a fight.

Your battle is with Flora, one of the early bosses in the game. This isn’t a particularly challenging fight in the grand scheme of MIO: Memories In Orbit, but you’ll likely tackle it early enough that it can still pose a threat.
Keep your distance to dodge all of Flora’s attacks, punishing the pink head whenever able. In Phase Two of this fight, you’ll need to take extra care to battle above the pool of poison water that Flora will vomit directly in front of its head.
Remember that attacking enemies in midair refreshes your double-jump, so leap into the air, attack Flora when you have windows, then double-jump back to safety after you’ve gotten a couple of hits in. Rinse, repeat, and Flora will go down.

Directly behind Flora’s corpse, you’ll find a little nook that you can access with a hairpin jump, which houses a shiny, unknown object. Collect the object, and you’ll find that it’s the Aviaries Passepartout that you’ve been searching for all along.
With the Passepartout in tow, you’re free to return to the locked gate next to Noden whenever you like in order to unlock the gate and proceed.
What Does The Aviaries Passepartout Give Access To?

On the other side of the Aviaries Passepartout gate, you’ll encounter an enemy-rush room you’ll need to clear out in order to keep moving forward. Dispose of these foes, and you’ll have access to the Haven, as well as the Bell Tower, two new areas of MIO’s sprawling map.
This includes an elevator, which has three levels in total that you can explore in order to keep making progress in the game.

Additionally, take note of another one of Samsk’s tunnels that is just inside the gate. As you likely know by now, these are locations where you can summon Samsk in order to earn another one of the cool abilities in MIO that will aid in traversal, progression, and survival.
With that, you’re onto bigger and better things within the game, and well as more and more challenging boss battles that await you every step of the way.
