Where Is Mel After Being Kidnapped?

After Mel gets taken by Dr Hayln’s collector, you’ll need to explore The Vaults fully to find where they are being kept. But, the path to Mel is pretty well hidden.
The start of this path is found in a large open room not too far left or the Vault Overseer save point. You’ll want to head through this hidden path shown above.
From here, you will need to navigate a path filled with tough enemies and Gloomwater hazards. Then, along the way, you will need to press pump system switches to raise and lower Gloomwater to reveal new paths forward.

Eventually you will complete the loop around, allowing you to open the locked door below the Vaults Overseer save point. Then, where Rad is standing, you’ll want to hop down this pipe which will take you through to a boss arena.
How To Rescue Mel

To get Mel back, you need to defeat Debby, otherwise known as Dr Hayln’s collector. This is a boss that uses Gloomwater turrets and bombs to remove safe platforms below your feet.
The key to winning this fight is using your dodge ability to avoid taking damage from their Gloomwater attacks, as positioning will only do so much.
Second, you’ll need to use Sail to keep yourself on a solid platform and avoid their turret attacks.
Then third, you’ll want to be aware of the spikes on each side of the arena, that can be an issue if you get penned into a corner.
Provided you can get through this fight, you’ll rescue Mel and she will return to the Workshop.
Rewards For Rescuing Mel

The most obvious reward is that Mel will return to your workshop. Which allows you to spend the oodles of resources that you will have likely accumulated since she went missing.
But, alongside that, Mel will also have a new item in their shop that only costs one Nacre. So, you know, totally not a gift at all.
This item is a mod called Gratitude, which essentially mirrors the effects of the Ground Healing assist. Granting you an additional hit if you stay grounded for long enough. It’s a pricey mod, and one that’s a little redundant if you are using the assists. But, all in all, a good mod to have nonetheless.
