There are some pretty memorable bosses that make up the roster in MIO: Memories in Orbit. However, there are only a few that you would consider haunting and terrifying. But, I think that your Friends are right up there.
This gloom water afflicted boss is a gelatinous blob of doom that you will need to take down if you want to put your fellow bots to rest. After all, no one deserves the fate they are enduring.
But, to do that you need to be on your A-game. So, to help you do just that, here is our guide to get through this boss fight.

Where To Find Your Friends

Your Friends are located in the upper levels of Promenade, accessed via The Canopy. The boss battle takes place in the area of the map shown above. However, you won’t be able to get in unless you have the Friendly Invitation.
Getting the Friendly Invitation

The Friendly Invitation is located not too far from the boss area, also in the upper level of Promenade.
You will need to progress through a tight platforming section and at the end of this section, you’ll find this invitation laying on the ground.

Above is the location of the Friendly Invitation on the map.
How To Prepare

As this is a late-game boss, it goes without saying that you will want as many modifier extensions, health upgrades and damage upgrades as possible.
However, it’s also helpful to go with specific mods that help you get through this fight.
First, I would highly suggest that you equip the Black Widow Mod, gained by Defeating Sol and Vin. As this helps deal more damage during the second phase that relies on using Striders to stay above the Gloomwater pool.
Second, I would also highly recommend Kinetic Thrust, as this will allow you to get the most out of your combos when hovering in the air during this phase.
Then thirdly, I would also highly recommend Enhanced Dodge, as Friends move quite erratically and your movement is limited. So being able to dodge can be a lifesaver.
Other mods that can be helpful include Protective Overlay, Pain Conversion & Defensive Mechanism.
How To Beat Your Friends

The fight against Friends is one that starts out very simple indeed, but becomes incredibly frantic in the second phase. Here is what to expect from the boss during this fight:
- Lunge: Friends will lunge across the chain fence toward the player’s position. The easiest counter is to stay grounded during the first phase. Then, in the second, you’ll want to use striders to climb high/low to avoid.
- Swing Attack: Friends will throw their arm out and then leverage it to swing across the chain fence. Usually is quite hard to get out of the way. You can either time a dodge or climb out of their path. In the first phase, staying grounded is the move.
- Gloomwater circle: Enemy will spit out Gloomwater globs that make up a circle. The best counter is to position to slip between the gaps in the globs.
- Gloomwater Triple: Friends spits a row of three Gloomwater blobs, and does this twice. Again, it’s best to slip between the gaps between.
- Hanging Eggs: Friends will spit out four blobs into the sky and these will drop down as hanging Eggs that block your path around the arena. Best counter is to prioritize attacking these, attack the lowest hanging bulbs. If you don’t, these will hatch and create minion enemies that will complicate things further.
This is all that the boss will throw your way, and as long as the player can drop to the floor, these attacks will be very easy to avoid. However, when the boss drops to about 65% health, the nature of the fight changes dramatically.

The boss will spit out enough Gloomwater to fill the area below with a hazardous pool. Which means the player needs to use their Striders and constantly be attacking the enemy to keep enough energy to cling on.
The key to survival here is staying on the move, getting attacks in where possible, but above all, keeping on top of the hanging egg enemies. As those hanging hazards will get on top of you fast.
It’s better to get it done sooner rather than later as the longer it goes on, the more likely it is that you’ll far victim to a random swing attack. Stay offensive, and hopefully, you’ll make it out the other side.
Rewards For Defeating Friends
Unfortunately, the rewards for this fight are pretty minuscule. You’ll gain access to a new elevator that allows you to go from the upper Promenade through to the lower levels of Promenade. However, aside from that, there aren’t any other rewards to speak of.
It’s also worth noting, the NPC robot that you find in Promenade that makes reference to Friends, and asks the player to help end their suffering will not offer a reward after you beat this boss.
