When I saw the silhouette of Venom in the chapter Destromundo, I knew the symbiotic monster was waiting for me at the end. Plus, I also knew it wasn’t going to be an easy boss fight that I could just breeze through by doing the bare minimum.
Lo and behold, the fight was hectic, and Venom used every trick in the book to knock me on my ass. What surprised me the most was the speed of the attacks; each had little to no transition between, making anticipating him hard as nails.
A strong adversary will always get the best out of you. After taking some damage and a handful of rage quits, I managed to slay the beast. Here is a complete guide on How To Beat Venom in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
Best Hero Combo For Fighting Venom

As you might have gathered from the pulsing characters on the character select screen, there is always a suggested duo in terms of the stage’s storyline and level design. In this case, it’s She-Hulk and Spider-Man, and they work pretty well as a team.
Thanks to Spider-Man’s agility, and web-swinging to close gaps in an instant, coupled with She-Hulk’s grappling slams and aggressive throws, they tend to make a pretty good team.
If you’re looking to complete the stage’s challenges in one go, you might want to go with that pair the game suggests. But, if you want to run a pair that might get you through this fight a little easier, these are the alternate characters we would suggest:
- Ironman/Nova
- Wolverine/Storm
- Black Panther/Captain America
All Venom Attacks in Marvel Cosmic Invasion

As you might expect, Venom is a pretty erratic character, with a move set to match. They move with speed, attack with aggression, and if they get you, you don’t have a lot of time to recover before they are right up on top of you again.
However, if you know what you are up against, you might just stand a chance of getting Eddie Brock onside in your fight to save the galaxy:
Venom Shark Attack

Once the battle begins, Venom will charge with its mouth wide open. The dashing attack might not look like it can dish out severe damage, but it does with the constant nature of the attack. Throughout the battle, you can expect Venom to perform this move excessively. Getting caught in one of these will take out a huge chunk of your health bar.
The best course of action is to move out of the way to avoid taking any damage from the shark attack. The attack always follows a straight line, so as long as you are either on the upper or lower side of the arena, you will not take any damage.
But if you are feeling confident, then Better Call She Hulk to block the attack at the right time to counter and stun lock Venom for a few seconds.
Basic Claw Attack

Venom will pull back his left hand for a vicious claw attack. You can expect this move to serve as the go-to attack from Venom, but, as dangerous as it looks, it can be easily blocked or avoided.
I strongly recommend switching to She-Hulk or any hero with blocking ability to counter the attack. It will open up a 3 to 4-second window to unleash your combos against Venom. He will soon go down after taking a good amount of damage, then it’s clobbering time.
Venom Tentacle Barrage (Ultimate Move)

Tentacle Barrage is an Ultimate move, and it does live up to the hype. Venom will stand still and use his symbiote power to create tentacles to flail around frantically. Getting close is a bad idea, so stay far away as Venom will stand still during this attack animation.
While you can block this attack, the last thing you want to do is take chances against an ultimate attack. I highly recommend switching to any character with dashing ability, since Venom will stay at the same spot while performing this move; simply moving to the other end of the screen will help you avoid the attack.
Web Swinging

Spider-Man isn’t the only one with the web-swinging ability. As the fight gradually progresses, Venom will pull off its own variation of a web-swinging move that can catch you off guard.
It can knock down both Spider-Man and She-Hulk if they get caught in the attack. This phase also spawns a fodder enemy at the top of the screen; you can simply take it out with a leap attack with any of your heroes.
The animation of Venom’s web-swinging attack can easily be spotted, since the attack has Venom leaping into the air and using a white web to swing around.
Make sure to use She-Hulk or any other character with a blockable ability to counter the attack. If you don’t want to put yourself at risk, then move either downwards or upwards of the area to avoid the attack.
Head Thrust

Venom will use the symbiote power to extend his head to thrust it towards you. This attack can be a bit unpredictable; the animation for the attack will always trigger as Venom gets closer to your character. Once you see Venom slowly marching towards your location, you will see this move coming, so it’s better to avoid it.
This attack has a good reach, so dashing backwards will not be a good idea; just get out of the way by going to either upper or lower spot of the battle arena.
Additional Tips for the Battle

- If you are not feeling confident in your block, always get out of the way by moving to either side of the screen. Since most of Venom’s attacks will cover what’s in front of him, his attacks are always straight lines, never spread out diagonally.
- Some of the Venom attacks are slow; take his basic combo, for example, a dash can easily avoid his claw swipe. But you can always block it to land a sweet hit on him.
- One of his most deadly moves is his charging attack, which is unpredictable. So if Venom moves to the side of the screen, be prepared to either dodge or block the charging attack.
- Avoid getting caught in his Ultimate move; don’t risk your HP by trying to counter it.
If the situation is dire, then switch to Spider-Man to perform dodging rather than to block the attack using She-Hulk. Provided you can use these tips to your advantage, you should have an easier time defeating Venom and progressing on unlocking all characters in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
