Luma Island: How To Find The Mountain Cave Exit & Ancient Book

There are all kinds of biomes to explore in Luma Island, including the Mountain biome which is filled with mysteries and magic at every corner. Unlike other games of this genre, the Mountains of this island aren’t just reskins of the original map. Instead, it has its own caves, quests and stories hidden behind rocky cliffs.

One thing that many players have trouble finding in this biome is the Mountain cave, which houses an Ancient Book that can unlock new items in the game. You can find out about these books by talking to Balthazar, who will be at the Book stall in town. Here’s a guide on how to find your way out of the Mountain cave exit and get the mystical Ancient Book.

Look for a path with torches and purple crystals for an exit out of the Mountain Cave. The best reference point is an area with a ladder right in the middle. If you turn to the right, you will see the path for the exit.

When you first enter the mountain cave, keep going west and you will be facing dirt paths filled with torches. Once the path splits into two, go towards the right one. Try to stay away from hidden roads as they might make you feel lost. Use the torches and the purple crystals as a guide and soon enough, you’ll see a faint opening in the distance towards the centre.

How To Find The Ancient Book In Mountain Cave

Once you exit out of the Mountain Cave, you’ll be on the edge of the mountain, where an Ancient book and a purple chest will be waiting for you. Ancient books are randomly placed, just like the Luma eggs, so there’s no saying which one you would get here. Now follow the way back to the entrance and head back home with the Ancient book you’ve found.

Besides the Mountain Exit cave, there are other places in the mountain biome where you can find Ancient books. We have marked the locations on the map below.

If you keep exploring the map of Luma Island’s Mountain Biome, you’ll eventually run into these books. They aren’t that hard to find as they will be lying in the open at the locations mentioned above. Check the surrounding areas near the books as there could be a chest at times.

You can also come across Ancient Books in areas like the Mines, Ruins, and Offering Doors in other biomes. Some of these books can be tough to reach, as they are blocked with traps, so be careful while exploring such places.

Where To Use The Ancient Books

To use the Ancient books, head over to the Library in town and interact with it. A pop-up will be on your screen, showing you just how many of the Lost items from the library you would need to collect. Select the “Give Item” option at the bottom, which will automatically take the Ancient Book from your inventory.

As soon as you give it, you’ll unlock a new set of drawings of items that you can now make. Most of these will be furniture and other decorative stuff that you can use on your farm.

If all of the books are unlocked, you can make exciting mega-structure items and get a couple of achievements (“That Took a LOT of Time!” and “Well Read”). Along with this, you’ll also be getting tons of other rewards like spirits of each kind. While finding all of these scattered Ancient books is a tedious task, it’s certainly worth it because of the items and achievements you’ll get out of it.

In case you are looking for a way to find the Mountain Entrance in the biome, we have put up a short note on that as well below.

How To Find The Mountain Entrance

When you reach the mountain biome, go to the southern edge of the map which is filled with trees.
There will be many dirt paths around this area, do not take the right roads and go left instead. You’ll find a cave entrance surrounded by trees with a lantern lit beside it. Entering the cave will land you in a muddy area with a ladder near you. Just follow the torches and try to stay away from the spooky corners. As you keep going west, break down any boulders and logs that may be in the way.

There is also a Mysterious Egg that you can get on collecting Tepid Offering Crystals in Luma Island, check our guide on this in case this is something that interests you.
