Some Mystic Skills in Where Winds Meet might feel like an impromptu dance performance, and nothing quite epitomizes this more than performing the Free Morph mystic skill.
But this freestyle-frenzy kick move is more than just a move to wow the crowd; it has the potential to inflict deadly damage.
This was a boon for me, someone who really struggles against just about any boss that Where Winds Meet throws my way. So, if you’re also getting pummeled on the regular, this is a must-have.
In case you haven’t unlocked this skill yet, I’ll walk you through the best way to obtain Free Morph and how to upgrade it, too.
Where Winds Meet Free Morph Mystic Skill Guide

To get the Free Morph skill, you need to unlock the Challenge version of Tian Ying, then successfully deflect the boss’s spinning kicks before ending the second phase of the battle.
Tian Ying’s challenge version unlocks after defeating him the first time during The Promised Light campaign. You need to fill up the boss’s proficiency meter to get the skill. If you take a look at the right side of the boss’s health bar, you will spot an eye icon.

To deflect Tian Ying’s spinning kicks, you need to time your parries just as his foot makes contact with your character. Successfully parrying his kicks will fill up the proficiency meter. To make things easier, change your game’s difficulty setting to get parry prompts. Once the meter’s filled, continue the rest of the fight till the boss is defeated.
Bug: At first, if you do not get the unlock indicator for the Free Morph Mystic Skill, check your Mystic Skill list to see if it has been unlocked. If the proficiency meter is stuck after performing several successful parries, then you might have to reload the boss fight and try again.
Free Morph Stats

Free Morph is best used against singular targets rather than mobs, as you get to stay aloft while unleashing kick combos. At the end of your move, you get to slam down and deal immense damage, perfect for taking out tougher enemies.
- Type: Offensive
- Sub-Category: Single-Target Control
- Vitality Cost: 35
- Cooldown: 3s
- Effect: Keeps the user airborne while they unleash a flurry of kicks. The caster gets pushed upwards during the first kick, and they will continue to kick mid-air to stay afloat. Once the combo ends, the user slams down and creates AoE damage.
