Now that Digimon Story: Time Stranger is out with the complete game, you get to experience the world of Digimon with a whole new storyline. Since the demo had been out for quite some time, it would be a pain to start over from scratch. Luckily, you do get to transfer your demo save data to the full game. If you need some help transferring your data, keep reading below.
How to Import Demo Save in Digimon Story: Time Stranger

After updating your game, you will automatically get the option to transfer your demo save to the full game. Do note that this will replace any existing save files in your current run and will be rewritten with the demo file. This only works if you have manually saved your demo game, and won’t work on files that have been auto-saved by the game.
After updating the game to the full version, launch the game. You will receive a pop-up message asking whether you wish to transfer your demo save. Click Yes and Confirm from the main menu to complete the task. You might have to reload your game to get the save file to load properly, or continue to run the game and check if the demo file has loaded in properly.
How to Fix Save Data is Corrupted
If you get an error message that your save data is corrupted, or if your character is stuck running into a void after launching the save file, then try the following:
- Manually rewrite your demo save into the full game by copying the save data from steam/userdata/(your user ID)/3815860 and pasting it at steam/userdata/(your user ID)/1984270.
- If you don’t find your demo save files in the above location, then head over to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common. Scroll down to find DSTS’s demo, then copy all files within the gamedata/savedata folders. Paste it into the same folder names of the full game.
- Delete any prior save files in the full game and replace them with the demo files to get it to work.
- In case you deleted your demo prior to obtaining the full game, then you need to search your Steam Cloud for the demo manual save files, copy and paste them into the full game save folder. You need to launch the full game first to create all the necessary folders, then copy and paste the demo files to the full version.
Reloading the game or restarting your system also helps the game detect any prior save files. If all else fails, then do contact the support team at Digimon Story: Time Stranger to get this issue sorted out.
