Ever wondered what it feels like to be at the head of a noble family in a medieval kingdom? Well, that’s the entire idea behind the upcoming medieval colony of Norland. Earning gold and maximizing your wealth is one of the many objectives of this game. But in this game, that is easier said than done.
In this guide, we’ll give you a couple of quick tips to maximize your wealth in Norland. Let’s get started.
Maximizing Your Wealth in Norland
The early hours of Norland can be unforgiving since you won’t know how to make money. However, once you get through the initial hurdles, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for it. Here are four simple tips to help you maximize your wealth in Norland:
Research Herbalism and Alchemist’s Lab

Rutabaga, the earliest crop in Norland, reduces the Mood of your citizens by 8. Sometimes, it can even lead to them developing Rutabaga Fever, which requires Medicine to cure. Sure, you can buy Medicine from Traders, but it costs Gold, which you don’t want to spend to maximize your wealth early on.
By investing points in the Herbalism and Alchemist’s Lab, you’ll be able to craft your own Medicine. This will eliminate the Medicine cost, and you can even sell the excess to the trader for profit.
Utilize The Power of Slaves
In Norland, you’ll often have to fight with other factions or defend against bandits. That means you’ll also need to manage an army of fighters or mercenaries. However, the problem with that is that mercenaries are expensive, and training them also drains a lot of money quickly. This is where you can utilize the power of slaves.
Slaves can be bought directly from merchants for cheap. A single spar on the training ground can raise the Slave to level 5. With a starred Teaching skill, your Slave can reach level 8 on the training ground in a day. You don’t even need to equip them with any weapons.
A team of 20 unarmed slaves can take down five bandits, making them pretty effective at defending your kingdom without costing you a fortune.
Prioritize Selling Wood
Trading is a core element in Norland, and Wood is the most abundant resource available early in the game. You can sell each unit of Wood for two golds, and by trading regularly, the profit racks up quickly. Sure, trading resources like Beer or Heavy Armor will net you bigger profits per unit, but they are also more expensive to manufacture.
Move on To Trading Coal

While Wood can help you rack up a decent bit of fortune early in the game, you can’t rely on it forever. Once your settlement starts to grow, you’ll be able to craft higher-tier resources that sell for much more than two Gold. As you progress through the game, we recommend switching to trading Coal. Since it’s considered Scarce by traders, you can often sell it for double the market value.
Typically, one Coal Worker can produce about 10 Coal per day that you can sell for as much as 18 Gold a unit when it becomes Scarce.
