How To Find Whispering Eggs in No Man’s Sky
Whispering Eggs in No Man’s Sky can be found around Abandoned Buildings on the surface of any planet or they can be found scattered everywhere on the surface of some Infested and Toxic planets. When you find an Abandoned Building, you will find pockets of purple-colored Whispering Eggs around some tentacle-like growth sitting right outside the building walls.
Searching for Abandoned Buildings on planet surfaces is a much more consistent way of finding Whispering Eggs rather than trying to find an Infested or Toxic planet that spawns Whispering Eggs anywhere on the surface because not only are infested planets rare, but finding one that spawns Whispering Eggs is even rarer unless you are in a harsh galaxy.
How To Find Abandoned Buildings in No Man’s Sky
Finding Abandoned Buildings on planet surfaces in No Man’s Sky involves a bit of RNG but it doesn’t take too long unless you’re really down on your luck.
Here are two methods you can use to find Abandoned Buildings to get Whispering Eggs in No Man’s Sky:
Using the Scanner on your Ship
- Pick any planet, preferably a lush one, and enter its atmosphere with your ship.
- As you fly above the surface of the planet, spam your scanner until you see a house icon pop up that says “Unknown building”
- Check if this building is an Abandoned Building, if not then continue your search by flying in your ship and scanning for buildings
- Pro tip: One way to narrow down your search is to look for a building that doesn’t have a designated landing zone, if it has one then it is surely not an Abandoned Building.
- Keep exploring the buildings that pop up on your ship scanner until you eventually come upon an Abandoned Building, which will have Whispering Eggs around it.
Using a Planetary Chart
- Head to the Space station of any given system and go to the Cartographer who is found near the bottom right side of the station when facing the station core.
- Buy a Planetary Chart that locates Distress Signals with Navigation Data.
- Highlight it in your inventory and press the button for “Plot Route”.
- This will have a 40% chance of locating an Abandoned Building in your current system, if it locates other things like a Crashed Ship or Freighter, you will have to buy another chart and try again.
- When a Planetary Chart finds an Abandoned Building, it will now be marked as a red icon on your HUD and you can now fly exactly to where it is and get the Whispering Eggs.
What are Whispering Eggs Used For in No Man’s Sky?
When you find Whispering Eggs in No Man’s Sky, you can use your Mining Laser or any other weapon to destroy it and get a Larval Core. Be warned though as doing so will result in a swarm of Biological Horrors spawning from underneath the ground in an attempt to protect their eggs.
Larval Cores are very valuable items and can be sold at a Galactic Trade Terminal for a large number of Units. They are also used in some crafting recipes or can be refined into Nanite Clusters.
