How To Get The Abyssal Whip In RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Sometimes, you can get better equipment while defeating enemies and bosses. RuneScape Dragonwilds offers a handful of such equipment to find after defeating certain enemies around the map. The Abyssal Whip is one such weapon that can be obtained from defeating a peculiar boss, and claiming this weapon is the easiest thing to do in the game. This guide will break down how to get the Abyssal Whip in Runescape Dragonwilds.

    RuneScape Dragonwilds: Abyssal Whip Guide

Before unlocking the recipe for the Abyssal Whip, you need to gather all the required materials for it first. You will require the following.

    • 1x Vault Core
    • 4x Ram Horn
    • 1x Abyssal Spine
    • 8x Hard Leather
    • 12x Vault Shard

Let’s break down each material one by one, as you need to defeat particular enemies or scavenge certain areas to collect everything on the list.

    Abyssal Spine Location

To get the Abyssal Spine, you need to hunt down the Abyssal Demon and get it as a drop. The Abyssal Demon is found within the Whispering Swamp, you have to make your way west to find it. While exploring the western section, you might come across some debris from a building. The Abyssal Demon can be spotted close to this location.

All that’s left is to defeat it, and there is an easy way to cheese the fight. You will require a bow and arrow first, after which you can lure the Abyssal Demon towards the ruined building. Get up to the higher platform of the building and shoot at the creature from up there. Since the Abyssal Demon cannot jump or climb, you can just stand up there and keep shooting at it till it is dead.

    Ram Horn Location

Make your way to Stormtouched Highlands to find Rams and farm Ram Horns. Be careful while you are here, as the enemies here are extremely high level. You might also get periodically zapped by lightning, which is another threat to add here. Fortunately, you just require 4 Ram Horns, so quickly defeat the required number of rams to get them and make your escape.

Vault Shard and Vault Core Location

As the name suggests, you need to explore Vaults to collect these two resources. You can find several vaults all around Ashenfall and are usually marked on the map. Vault Shards appear as a drop by defeating the guardians within, while Vault Cores are rewarded after completing the entire Vault run. Vault Shards can also be found within chests inside the vault, but this method is quite random.

At the end of the Vault, you can find the Vault Core, but it is heavily guarded by guardians. You can either swoop in and pick up the Core, then make a dash for your escape. Or you can take your chances and tackle them head on to collect the Core in peace. Whichever option you pick, you should always place a Lodestone nearby so you can teleport back when things get bad.

    Hard Leather Location

This is the only item that can be crafted at the comfort of your base. You will require the Tanner’s Kit first to use at the Tannery, then you need to collect adhesive and leather to craft Hard Leather.

    Abyssal Whip Stats

Once you have all your materials, make your way to the Smithing Anvil and select the recipe for the Abyssal Whip. Below are the stats for this weapon.
