While having a functional base is the key to survival in Once Human, it is practically a dump without electricity. You need to unlock the power grid function to supply electricity to your base. Once you have got the power grid you have to choose your preferred power source and set it up for steady supply. This guide has everything you need to generate power in Once Human.
Once Human Power Generation Guide
You need to defeat the first boss “Great One” in order to unlock the power grid memetics in Once Human. After this, you need to head to your Memetics menu and visit the Logistics section. As you progress into the game further, you will be able to unlock Power Generators / Electrical Essentials.
After you have advanced to this point, you will be presented with three power generation choices:
- Biomass Generator: This is a basic generator that runs on biomass. While obtaining resources for this generator is relatively easy, you will have to make peace with limited efficiency.
- Solar Panel: This is a sustainable and efficient power generator that converts sunlight into electricity. However, it requires a clear roof space and cannot function during the night.
- Hydraulic Generator: This generator uses water turbines to produce power. It is ideal if your base is near a water source as it offers great efficiency.
While you may be compelled to use a biomass generator at the beginning of the gameplay due to limited resources, you should consider switching to more efficient generators later on.

Power Generation In Once Human
Once you have obtained your power source, you can start building your grid and begin power generation:
- Go to Build Mode and locate the power source you wish to place.
- Strategically place your generator within your base so it can wire the different equipment properly.
- Use the Attach Wire option and connect wires from your generator to pylons and terminals located around your base.
While wiring your base may sound like a simple job, it is absolutely necessary to plan a layout. Otherwise, you will end up creating a clutter in your base. You need to keep an eye on the UI for power consumption, as your base expands you will need to equip additional generators.
