Sister Splinter is located in Shellwood. Keep heading west to find the boss lair. This boss fight isn’t as tough as the ones that come after it, so you could take this fight as a breather. Still, I would advise you to be patient and deal with the Sister Splinter boss strategically before the boss gets the chance to kill you. There are three moves to look out for while dealing with the Sister Splinter, which we have detailed below.
- Claw Swipes: One of Sister Splinter’s hands starts glowing, indicating a downward lunge and claw swipe. Just dodge to avoid it. This one does not have a very high windup, so you will have to react quickly. Dodge the moment you see a glowing hand. Thankfully, the pattern here is fixed: it will always be three swipes, and after each swipe, the boss will move to the other end. So, swipe -> moves (left/right) -> swipe -> moves (right/left) -> swipe.
- Vine Strike: Keep a lookout overhead for some light shining through the leaves. The leaves will start to rustle, and a spear made of vines will suddenly appear and stab the ground. This move is also avoided by dodging, and you need to clear the vines by stabbing them a few times.
- Minion Summons: Two (or sometimes one) minions will appear on the field from overhead. Their arrival points are noted by a light coming through the leaves. Jump up while standing under them and hit them quickly, or use a ranged needle attack if they appear on ground level.
Tips to Beat Sister Splinter
- You don’t require any fancy upgrades for the fight, as it is pretty straightforward. As for the boss’s weak spots, aim for the head as usual.
- The Sister Splinter appears overhead and lunges down to hit you. Pay attention to the glowing claws to know where to dodge.
- The moment the Claw Attack is completed is the best time to get a few hits in
- If a Vine Spear strikes the ground around you, quickly clear it up by hitting it with your weapon. You could also lure the boss towards the vine by standing near it, then wait for the claw swipes to tear it down.
- When the boss is stunned, take this time to heal or land a few combo attacks. This also removes any remaining vine spears in the area.
- During the second phase, Sister Splinter will chortle and summon two minions. Deal with them first before going back to the boss.
- If they are hovering overhead, get under them and jump up to land hits. If they are on the ground, use your weapon’s ranged attack to deal damage. Three hits each will bring them down.
- Repeating the steps above will defeat the Sister Splinter, which unlocks the next exploration area.
Sister Splinter isn’t the toughest boss around in Hollow Knight Silksong, but there are still some extremely difficult bosses out there.
