The Old Wizard’s Eye boss fight can be found on Floor 14 “Out of Sight” in Taedal’s Tower; a 20-floor gauntlet that throws varying challenges and bosses at you on each floor. This tower is an end-game activity that requires you to be at least level 30 to begin so you need to grind a bit if you aren’t already there. On top of that, reaching and attempting Floor 14 to defeat The Old Wizard’s Eye in Throne and Liberty requires you to be at least level 39.
How To Unlock And Enter Taedal’s Tower
To unlock Taedal’s Tower, progress enough through the main story quests or access it through the Secret Dungeons menu that gets unlocked after reaching level 30. To enter Taedal’s Tower, head to the Starlight Observatory Ruins which can be accessed through Ashien’s Strange Painting.
How To Beat Old Wizard’s Eye In Throne & Liberty
The Old Wizard’s Eye in Throne And Liberty is one of the harder bosses to face when attempting the Taedal’s Tower gauntlet. It is best to first understand the notable attacks of the boss that you strictly need to avoid before we dive into the strategy.
The Old Wizard’s Eye Attacks
- Eye Laser: A basic attack that the boss will often use between the special more powerful attacks. Can be blocked but it’s not that bad to tank it as it does low damage.
- Sky Beams: Shoots multiple beams in various locations in the arena that can stun the player if not blocked perfectly. You can avoid the red zones where it hits to avoid getting hit with this one.
- AoE Ground Slam: A devastating attack where The Old Wizard’s Eye will charge up and slam on the ground multiple times. This cannot be avoided since it covers the whole arena but it can be dodged by jumping at the perfect time for each slam or by perfectly blocking.
- Front Charged Attack: Covers half the arena in front of it to deal massive damage with this attack. Simply move out of the red spot by rolling through the boss but that won’t always be possible due to how fast it attacks so you can also block or just tank the attack.
Strategy To Defeat Old Wizard’s Eye Boss
If you are going for a melee build to defeat The Old Wizard’s Eye in Throne and Liberty, the best weapon to use would be the Greatsword. Using the Active Skill of the Greatsword called Devastating Smash at the correct time is key here. Look out for the front-facing charge attack where you can get your big attacks in and then roll toward it as the attack hits.
Timing also matters a lot because you need to make sure you are not stuck in a combo when he does the AoE ground slam attack as you need to jump those. Do not start attacking and just wait for the slams to time the jump until all slams are over. Also, look out for the charge before the beam attack which is a good window to get a Devastating Smash hit. Using the Invincible Wall and Blessed Barrier for defense is also a great strategy.
For the ranged players, you can use a Wand or a Staff, preferably the Wand. This is because the Wand is by far the best weapon to use against The Old Wizard’s Eye boss as it allows you to move around and keep a distance while consistently doing damage.
The same strategy applies to a ranged build where you need to look out for the charged attacks to do your own charged attacks. However, you do need to use more of the healing abilities like the Swift Healing ability. Make sure you level it up because you are going to need a lot of it to defeat The Old Wizard’s Eye in Throne and Liberty.
