R.E.P.O is filled with several pesky monsters lurking through the various levels and maps. One of the most common pests you will encounter are parasites, and they have a chance to latch on to an unsuspecting player for longer periods of time. Getting rid of parasites from the host as early as you can will save you a lot of time and effort later on, and this guide will detail how to get rid of Parasites in R.E.P.O.
What Are Parasites In R.E.P.O?

Parasites are common monsters that appear across most maps and all levels. They randomly pop out from corners and float around till they find a host they can latch on to. Once they do find a host, it can be quite difficult to get rid of them. While parasites don’t deal any damage to the host, they can spew acid from their mouth each time they try to speak. Players who are near a parasite-infected host will receive damage anytime the acid hits them.
How To Get Rid Of Parasites In R.E.P.O
Most of the time, to get rid of parasites, all you need to do is wait. It can take a few minutes for the parasite to detach itself from the host and float away. But during the time the parasite is attached to a player, it is best to keep your distance and avoid the acid that will randomly spew out of the host’s mouth. If you are looking for faster ways to free your friend or yourself, you can use any melee weapon like a sword and hit the parasite on the head. With enough hits, it will automatically fall off and die.

Another way to stop a parasite from infecting a player is to grab it while it lunges at the host. You can grab hold of a parasite the same way you would for picking up loot, and you can toss them away or put them in a room with a door and close the door behind you. You can also ask your friends to shoot or hit the parasite while you hold on to it, thus killing it quickly. Besides these methods, it is best to run as fast as possible in the opposite direction if you spot a parasite floating towards you. Get into any room with a door and close the door behind you so the parasite can’t get in.
Can Cauldrons Kill Parasites?
If you encounter a parasite while exploring the Swiftbroom Academy map, then you might be tempted to dunk your head into the slimy green goo of the cauldron. But, unlike the Duck, this does not kill parasites, so you will be wasting your time trying to jump into a cauldron just to be launched into the air with the parasite still stuck to you.
There are countless more enemy encounters while exploring the maps of R.E.P.O, and you might require some tips on defeating the Blind Huntsman or atleast know how to save game so you can always come back if things get tough.
