How To Check Time in Dying Light: The Beast

In the Dying Light series, the day and night cycle plays a crucial role in how the environment works. The same applies in Dying Light: The Beast, where nighttime becomes more dangerous for exploration, while daytime also provides some challenges. If you are wondering how long to wait till the next day or night cycle, then you need to figure out a way to check the time in Dying Light: The Beast.

There are two ways to check the time: either by hopping into the main menu or by checking your watch. If you want to check the time through the main menu, then take a look at the top left corner under the level and XP bar. This shows you the current time, as well as a notification on the current hours left till nighttime or daybreak. You can come back to the menu anytime during your gameplay to know the current time and additional wait time for the next day/night cycle.

To check your watch, press and hold the following buttons.

    • PC: Tab or N key
    • PlayStation: Touchpad + left analog stick
    • Xbox: View button + left analog stick

Checking your watch is much faster and easier than heading into the main menu, especially if you are trapped in combat or passing through one of the Dark Zones. Do remember that you need to hold down the particular key/button to bring up the watch.

    Day and Night Cycle Explained

The only reason time would be a factor is if you would rather do your exploration during the day or night. While the daytime is considered safer, night also offers some perks. Once nightfall hits, enemies you kill during this time will boost your XP gain by double. Plus, exploring indoor areas like abandoned buildings or Dark Zones will have fewer threats of Volatiles and other creatures. This comes at the cost of facing them more frequently during outdoor exploration.

In short, if you are looking for a faster XP farm, then step outside during the night. Otherwise, most quests and objectives are best completed during the day.
