The Omens of Tyranny update has finally hit Helldivers 2, and you get to explore several new additions to the game. Not only do you get to complete new missions, but you also have to face the Illuminate invasion. Luckily, you get several new additions to the game, and one of them is the Fast Recon, a heavy-duty off-road vehicle that has a mounted gun attached.
This is a four-person vehicle and it makes riding through the patchy terrains much easier. But the only way you can get this vehicle is to find it on the map. In this guide we will see how to find and use the Fast Recon vehicle in Helldivers 2.
Fast Recon Vehicle Location In Helldivers 2
Since the launch of the update, the only place where you are bound to find the FRV is at Calypso located in the Saleria Sector. You would probably be at Calypso as part of the Illuminate missions, so you should have spotted the FRV during your quest. If not, try changing your difficulty level to four or higher, then explore the map.
These vehicles usually spawn in areas where you pick up side quests, and using your Recon Booster will help expand the search radius. Keep checking your map to find a car and bullets icon. Eventually, you might get the FRV as a Stratagem, so keep an eye out for that. Once you spot that, quickly head over there and you can claim the FRV as your own. There is no other pre-requisite or requirement to own the FRV, so just hop right in and get riding!
How To Use The Fast Recon Vehicle In Helldivers 2
The functions to ride the Fast Recon Vehicle are pretty simple. First, hop into the driver’s seat to gain control of the vehicle. Next, you can accelerate using W (PC)/ RT (Controller) to speed up. To slow down or break, press the S (PC)/ LT (Controller). Steering is the same as character movement, press A or D (PC)/ left stick (Controller) to move your vehicle left or right.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is that the FRV offers 5 different manual operational modes. The modes are listed below.
- Reverse – puts the vehicle in reverse
- Neutral – parks the vehicle
- Drive – drives at a lower speed
- Drive Mode One – drives at medium speed
- Drive Mode Two – drives at a higher speed
To switch between these modes, press CTRL+ arrow keys (PC)/ L1 or L2 (Controller). If you want the vehicle to automatically go into reverse mode or switch gears to throttle, then you need to change some of the settings under Options > Accessibility. You can turn on the “Auto Reverse Vehicles” and “Reverse Gear Inverts Throttle” settings to turn your vehicle automatic instead of manual.
You also would have noticed something additional with your vehicle. You or a companion can utilize the mounted gun at the back of the vehicle to gun down enemies as they approach. You can get a full 360 view while using it, making it easier to shoot targets in any direction.
