Applying Mutation perks helps your character gain special abilities, which is crucial while exploring the dangerous territories of Grounded 2. There are four types of Mutation categories, and each category offers unique perks and skills to equip. We will detail all Mutations currently in the game and what they do in Grounded 2.
Grounded 2 All Mutations and How to Get

The four main categories that each Mutation falls under are Fighting, Exploration, Combat, and Survival. In total, there are 18 Mutations to choose from, and you get to equip just two Mutations at the start of the game. To unlock more Mutation slots, you need to locate Milk Molars and use them to increase Max Active Mutations.
Now, coming to unlocking these Mutations, it all depends on how many enemies you fight, the weapons you use, and any consumables you have. Hitting a certain amount of kills with certain weapons or consuming certain items will unlock different Mutations. Below is a list of all Mutations, what they do, and how to unlock them.
Fighting Mutations
Mutation | Perk | How to Unlock |
Assassin | Dash Strikes offer increased CRIT hit chance, and using Dual Daggers and Sickles will increase damage output when dealing critical hits. Kills with Sickles and Dual Daggers will increase CRIT hit chance temporarily. | Kill 40/100/200 enemies with daggers |
Blademaster | Attacks from enemies deal lesser damage temporarily when hit by a sword. Also removes the stamina timer for your character. | Kill 40/100/200 enemies with swords. |
Javelineer | When thrown, spears deal more damage. Some damage also gets bounced back to enemies. Additional damage is dealt when using charged spear attacks. | Kill 40/100/200 enemies with spears. |
Lil Fist | Hits stack fist attacks, and charging a fist attack will release all stacks. Also get bonus stun and two extra stacks. | Kill 40/100/200 enemies with fists. |
Sharpshooter | Fully charged shots from bows deal additional CRIT damage. Perfectly charged shots deal extra damage. | Kill 40/100/200 enemies with bows. |

Whittle Wizard | Enhances elemental effects of staff attacks. Increases Crit hit chance when the staff is used on burning or frozen enemies that have max buildup. | Kill 40/100/200 enemies with staves. |
Combat Mutations

Ambush | Gain critical hits against enemies who are about to get ambushed. Crit hit damage is increased while using daggers for attacking. | Get 30/80/150 ambush attacks. |
Frenzy | Increases attack and healing at the cost of having untimed blocks. | Defeat the mysterious stranger. |
Guard Dog | Enemies attacking your base will receive increased damage. | Complete 1/4/9 MIX.R events. |
Parry Master | Restores stamina upon inflicting perfect blocks. | Get 30/80/150 perfect blocks. |
Exploration Mutations

Survival Mutations

Cardio Fan | Increases stamina regeneration and also reduces exhaustion time when all stamina is depleted. | Deplete stamina 100/250/500 times. |
Fresh Defense | Reduces burn and poison gas damage while also slowing down the rate of Sizzle. | Eat 1/5/10 mint shards. |
Mithridatism | Reduces the rate of venom damage and the spread of venom in your body. | Kill 5/50/150 venomous creatures. |
Reliable Friend | Increases revival speed on allies. | Revive 5/15/30 allies. |
Spicy Safety | Reduces frozen and shatter damage and slows down Shiver debuff. | Eat 1/5/10 spicy shards. |
