Brain Fungus is a consumable item in Fallout 76 used in many cooking recipes. Players can even eat it to restore health and hunger, albeit at the cost of some Radiation sickness. However, this is an essential ingredient in some of the best foods in the game. Here’s a quick guide on some of the best locations to farm Brain Fungus in Fallout 76.

Best Brain Fungus Locations in Fallout 76

The Wendigo Cave, Kernwood Mine, Abandoned Waste Dump, and Gauley Mine are the best places to farm Brain Fungus in Fallout 76. Although the item isn’t exactly rare, finding it in large quantities in the open world can be tough. Going to the locations we mentioned will give you plenty of Brain Fungus if you’re looking to stock up on it.

The early game in Fallout 76 can be tough since you won’t know which places to go to stock up on essential supplies. For those looking for Brain Fungus, Gauley Mine is the perfect place early on. The only enemies you’ll have to worry about are Scorched and Mole Rats.

It’s located east of the Vault 76 near Slocum’s Joe. You can get in either from the north or the south. You’ll find the entrance heading into Morgantown Trainyard following the railroad. Exploring this area will yield 26 pieces of Brain Fungus in total.

Kernwood Mine, located on the northwest end of Cranberry Bog near the Savage Divide, is another excellent source of Brain Fungus. However, harvesting the item from this location is slightly more dangerous.

This Point of Interest is riddled with enemies, such as Mole Miners, Giant Ticks, Ants, and Radroaches. So, you’ll have to bring plenty of firepower if you want to collect all 57 Brain Fungi available in this location.

    Abandoned Waste Dump

If you’re strong enough to take down Deathclaws, the Abandoned Waste Dump in Fallout 76 can be a good source of Brain Fungus. There are 28 Brain Fungi ripe for the taking in this place. However, five of them are on the ceiling, and you’ll need either the Marsupial mutation or Jet Pack to harvest them.

Head northeast from the Southern Belle Motel to reach the Abandoned Waste Dump. Three Deathclaws roam the cave, so make sure you’re well-equipped to handle them.

Want to pick up a hundred pieces of Brain Fungus at once? Wendigo Cave is the best location for it in Fallout 76. However, this is not the easiest cave to explore because of all the Mirelurks, Feral Ghouls, and Wendigos roaming inside. But with a decent Power Armor set and some good weapons, this shouldn’t be anything you can’t handle.

The cave is located along Route 63 in the Savage Divide leading up to the Ammo Dump.

Remember that these are not the only places to get Brain Fungus in Fallout 76. You’ll often find clusters of this resource while exploring the desolate landscape in Appalachia. However, if you want a reliable source, these are the best locations to farm. Check out our other guides on the game, like How to Get Medical Malpractice and How to Find Teapot.
