The resource materials found all around the biomes of Satisfactory are necessary to craft new items and build new machines. With each new update of the game, you can unlock new materials, crafting recipes and new locations to explore. Recently with the introduction of SAM Ores, you can craft a bunch of new items with these strange materials. SAM, or Strange Alien Metal, is one of the rarest materials to find in the game. There are only a handful of locations where you can find it, and mining it is another task altogether.
In this guide we will cover everything there is to know about SAM ores in Satisfactory. That includes where to find some, how to mine it, and its uses in the game

How To Get SAM Ore In Satisfactory
SAM nodes can be mined by hand with the help of your pickaxe or a Portable Miner. This is useful if you encounter SAM nodes during early gameplay. Later, you can install the Miner Mk.1, Mk.2, or Mk.3 and place them on the nodes to collect SAM ore automatically. If you have trained a Lizard Doggo to fetch materials for you, they can occasionally bring SAM ores to your base.
How To Use SAM Ore In Satisfactory
SAM ore is used for crafting various endgame items and machines. SAM ore can be converted into Reanimated SAM, and later you can use this to craft SAM Fluctuators. You can craft Reanimated SAM by placing SAM ores into the Constructor. Then feed the Reanimated SAM into the Manufacturer along with wire and steel pipes to get SAM Fluctuators. SAM Fluctuators are one of the main crafting components needed to create Portals and Converters.
Another use for SAM ores is to unlock new Alien Technology from the MAM tech tree. Your starting research point while trying to work through the Alien Tech tree is to unlock and use SAM Fluctuators. You can also unlock the SAM Scannable Resource under the same tree, and this will help you scan and locate all SAM nodes across the biomes.
