Elden Ring Nightreign: Shifting Earth Events Explained

In Elden Ring: Nightreign, the Shifting Earth Event, as the name suggests, brings about transformations and changes to the Limveld map. This shift in the map can be new areas, mini-bosses, puzzles etc. This event takes place at random times, after you start a session in Nightreign. Once this event occurs you will be able to start exploring the newly formed areas and fight the monsters to earn rare rewards and get back the dopamine rush reminiscent of Elden Ring.

    List of Shifting Earth Events

There are 4 known Shifting Earth Events as of now, they are:

    • The Crater: The change in the map brings about a section filled with sizzling hot lava, reminding the players of Volcano Manor. As you follow the main path, you’ll go against enemies with fire resistance and fire based attacks. Once you reach the end area, you’ll get a smithing table that allows the upgrade of a single armament to Legendary.
    • The Mountaintop: This event replaces a part of the map with a snowy mountain. As you climb the mountain, you’ll face ice-based enemies, that inflict you with frostbite. These enemies are weak to fire, as ice enemies tend to be. The reward for this area is protection against frostbite and an increase in your damage against dragon enemies.
    • Rot Forest: This is another area that comes with the shifting earth event. You’ll be prone to rot damage once you’re inside the forest. There are glowing red flowers that will help you clear the damage inflicted by the rot. Inside a fort, you’ll find a map that leads to a giant flower. Inside this flower, you’ll find a passive ability that grants you immunity to scarlet rot.
    • Noklateo, the Shrouded City: This area is one of the more challenging of the bunch. The enemies in this area use both physical and magic to attack, as you navigate the maze-like layout of the castle. At the final chest, you’ll receive the ability to revive yourself from the dead, one time.

Each of these are pretty challenging areas that you should not think of attempting before hitting Day 2. Check our guide on things to do first in Nightreign to prepare yourself fully for this and other challenges that the game throws at you.
