Dynasty Warriors Origins: How To Rescue Xun You

Dynasty Warriors Origins has several characters who you can politically align with or choose to leave behind. You might have to make some tough choices along the way, and you will make a few enemies as well. But you will also be tasked with saving some of your companions to get a different outcome to the storyline. During the Assassination of Dong Zhuo mission, your main goal is to rescue Cao Cao to safety. But there is another character during the mission that is easy to miss, and this guide will show you how you can also rescue Xun You in Dynasty Warriors Origins.

In Chapter 2, you have to help Cao Cao escape Dong Zhuo’s palace during the Assassination of Dong Zhuo mission. The worst part is that you will be continuously stalked by Lu Bu, so that’s another issue to take care of. But in the process of trying to escape, you might forget all about Xun You, who is held prisoner in a nearby jail cell. To start off the process of rescuing Xun You, you need to fight Lu Bu during the very start of the mission.

It can be intimidating to battle Lu Bu right now, but doing so will help you breeze through the rest of the mission later on. Advance towards Lu Bu and attack him repeatedly till his health drops to less than half. Keep dealing damage till Lu Bu decides to retreat, and this will reduce morale to all enemies you will encounter henceforth. But you need to be quick about it, as you need to head back to Cao Cao as soon as possible.

After Lu Bu disappears from the battle, exit the main palace and defeat Dong Zhuo’s forces with Cao Cao. Continue your way down south of the map while dealing with all the troops that appear. Once you reach the southernmost section, there is a door at the end of the ground floor that you can open, and this will lead you to the southeast section of the map. Keep heading east till you reach a prison, where you can spot Xun You.

To rescue all the prisoners, you need to defeat all the troops and generals who have now surrounded the area. Once you clear them out, a unique cutscene will play out. Xun You will now join your cause, and you can claim additional troops from the prisoners you had rescued. While rescuing Xun You is an optional task, if you do save him, then he can create a distraction when required. This is especially helpful when trying to save Cao Cao while escaping Lu Bu’s crutches.

There are a few more characters that require saving in Dynasty Warriors Origins, and you can check out our guide on saving Sun Ce to know more.
