As you go around exploring the world of Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you’ll find yourself facing all kinds of monsters and mysteries lurking in the shadows. Once you get your hands on a ship, there are many places you can go to with your party, defeating every monster that comes in your way.
While exploring these places, you might find out about orbs, which are scattered throughout the map of Dragon Quest 3 Remake. There are a total of 6 Orbs you can find, with each of them being guarded with strong bosses. Here’s a guide on how to find these orbs and what order to follow to make the fights easier.
Which Orb To Get First In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Since traveling to Jipang is filled with new achievements & is crucial to the story, it’s best if you find the Purple Orb first. Once you get the ship, travel all the way to Jipang from Portoga and defeat the monsters. After obtaining the Purple Orb, go for the Green one, since you’ll be passing by Theddon.
Make sure you have the Ultimate Key, then head over to the location of the Blue Orb. Collect the Yellow and Red Orbs, since these aren’t that hard to get. You can also go for the Red Orb first, as you won’t need any special abilities for it. Silver Orb is best saved for the last since it is quite difficult to get.
Here’s the order that you should go for:
You don’t really need high levels to get the Orbs, just fight strategically and keep your defenses high.
Preparations Before Collecting Orbs In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Before going to the locations to collect the Orbs, get the Ultimate Key and Echo Flute. These items go a long way in making the process of finding and collecting Orbs easier. The Ultimate Key helps access locked places, and the Echo Flute helps detect Orbs around you.
The Ultimate Key is found inside the Shrine of Shallows, and The Echo Flute in the Western side of Persistence, a village in the Eastern continent. You’ll be able to get hold of it near the Fifer’s Spire.
With these items in place, let’s look at the locations and how to reach them for each of the Orbs.
All Orb Locations In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Purple Orb
The Purple Orb is found in Jipang and is obtained on defeating Orochi twice. The whole town lives in fear of the Demon Orochi, who demands young girls as a sacrifice. Talk to Yayoi, and head over to the Eastern cave in Jipang. Orochi is a tough monster, so make sure you have your party’s defenses high. Use Kabuff, Oomph and other spells that can increase the damage you do on Orochi. You may want to check our detailed guide on how to defeat Orochi. You’ll have to defeat the demon twice to get the Purple Orb.
Green Orb
You’ll need the Ultimate Key for this Orb as well. Go to Theddon at night. Find the Jail and open the locked cell door using the Ultimate Key. Here you’ll have to fight Dying Fires and Phantasms. While obtaining this Orb is relatively easier than some of the others on this list, the fight here is longer and requires proper strategy. Keep the Magic barrier strong and try to get rid of the dying fires before focusing on the others. Once you’ve defeated these monsters, the Green Orb will be available for you.
Blue Orb
For this orb, you will need the Ultimate Key. Once you have that, travel to Lanson and find a priest who will challenge your hero to a solo trial. Make sure you have all kinds of healing items and accessories equipped, because you’ll be going all the way to Gaia’s Naval alone.
You will have to fight two strong monsters here, Chiromancer and Mad Vlad. Use spells like Zapple to defeat them faster. Once you’ve gotten rid of them, you’ll get the Blue Orb.
Yellow Orb
For the Yellow Orb, head over to the town North of Romaria. Here either let your Merchant Party member help in the development of the town, or, create a temporary merchant at the Party Planning Place. The town will develop over time and you’ll be asked to check on it once in a while.
When you return, you’ll see that your merchant has been put in jail. Go to the Merchant’s new mansion and the Yellow orb will be sitting behind the throne.
Red Orb
The Red Orb is found near the Pirate’s Den. You don’t really need any special requirements for it, just go to the Pirate’s Den and look for a statue that has a red glow around it. Push it over and you’ll see a set of stairs going into the cave. Go down and there will be a Reb Orb and some Treasure chests waiting for you.
Silver Orb
The Silver shiny glassy Orb can be very hard to get. To obtain it, you’ll first have to get the Mountain Cleaver, then go to the South of Ashem. Here throw the Cleaver into the Volcano, which will show a path to the Maw of Necrogond. Finding the Silver Orb through this place is tough since you’ll be fighting strong monsters and dealing with tricky traps.
The boss here is the Garboyle, who you can defeat by casting spells like Swoosh and using a strong Magic barrier. Keep healing your party regularly to avoid any losses. Once you’ve gotten rid of this monster, just use the path towards the Necrogond Shrine. This is where you’ll find the Silver Orb.
Unlocking Ramia Using The Orbs
Once you have all of the six orbs, you can use them to awaken Ramia – one of the most magical beings in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. After getting all of them, go to the Shrine of Everbird located on the Southern Island. Place the orbs on the Shrine’s pedestals. This will cause the awakening of Ramia, a bird that will make traveling around the game’s map much easier. Getting your hands on this bird is crucial for the completion of the game, since you’ll now be able to go to Baramos and fight the boss.
