To make Guru, the descendant of Erdrick, more stronger and powerful in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake, you need to find his Shield, Sword, and Armor. Locating them can be a bit tedious, since all three of them are located in different locations, and you need to defeat a giant boss to obtain the armor. With this guide, you’ll be able to find Erdrick’s legendary Shield, Sword, and Armor easily in the game.
Erdrick’s Shield Location
Erdrick’s Shield in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake is located at the Weeping Isle Exterior, to the north. Head to the location shown on the image above, and enter the Weeping Isle. Once you’re inside, head to the left end of the area, and climb up the stairs that leads to the next location.
At the next area, head to the top right corner until you come across the burning goblet. There, you’ll find a flight of stairs leading downwards to the right. Take the stairs to reach the next area.
In the next location, head to the right end of the area, which leads to outside of the Weeping Isle. You’ll notice light entering from an opening on your right. Follow the light to reach the Weeping Isle exterior. When you’re outside, head right and come down the flight of stairs, and go left inside once again.
In the next area, go left and take the stairs. At the next location, come down to find another opening that leads outside of the Weeping Isle. You’ll notice the light shining through once again. Head through the opening to reach the next area.
Once you’re outside again, turn left and enter the next area, located forward. You’ll be inside yet again, so take the left path to exit the area. When you’re outside, head right and take the flight of stairs that leads to the top. You’ll find a chest near the tree with growing fruits on the left. Open the chest to obtain Erdrick’s Shield.

Erdrick’s Sword Location
Erdrick’s Sword in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake is located inside the final dungeon, Dragonlord’s Castle, specifically at Dragonlord’s Castle – B1. Start at the location at Dragonlord’s Castle – B1 as shown on the map above, then head inside the next area below. This will take you to Dragonlord’s Castle – B2.
Inside Dragonlord’s Castle – B2, go left and forward to reach the area on the image above. From there, walk straight and head right to find a lava pool near the walls. Then, moving downward inside the area, and eventually, you’ll reach the bottom end of it. From there, take a left and climb down the stairs to reach Dragonlord’s Castle – B3.
Once you’re at Dragonlord’s Castle – B3, as shown on the image above, take a right and walk straight. Shortly after, turn left where a burning goblet is located. Keep going left to find another pool of lava, with more burning goblets forward. You’ll find a flight of stairs to the left of the lava. Take the stairs to reach Dragonlord’s Castle – B4.
Inside Dragonlord’s Castle – B4, walk down and head right to reach the next area. In the next location, walk downwards again and head right to find a burning goblet with a flight of stairs, near the end of the area to the right. Use the stairs to reach the next area.
Once you’re at the next location, turn left to find giant goblets burning. Keep heading left to find a twisted flight of stairs, draped in red carpet. Climb the stairs to reach Dragonlord’s Castle B-1, as shown on the map image above.
At the next area, you’ll find Erdrick’s Sword on the ground in Dragonlord’s Castle B-1. All you have to do is interact with the legendary sword of the old hero to add it to your collection in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake. It’s one of the best swords in the game, so it’s worth going through the trouble to find it.
Erdrick’s Armor Location
To obtain Erdrick’s Armor, defeat the Knight Aberrant at Damdara in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake. Head to Damdara, then explore the area on the right, and the Knight Aberrant will spawn. He’s a pretty tough boss, so make sure you gear up before you take on the knight in silver armor.
After defeating the Knight Aberrant, interact with the sparkle aura on the ground, and you’ll obtain Erdrick’s Armor in Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake. It’s one of the best armors in the game, as it reduces the damage from Spells and Breath damage by 1/3 when equipped. It also restores health HP slowly while walking in the overworld and protects you from poison swamps.
With Erdrick’s Shield, Sword, and Armor, you can take on the Dragonlord itself, and best him in a fight.
