After getting to know both Neve and Lucanis in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will have to face the decision of either helping Neve by siding with Minrathous or helping Lucanis by defending Treviso. This decision impacts your relationship with them and if you decide to go with Lucanis, you will also find yourself in the “On Deadly Wings” quest trying to defeat Corius The Icetalon in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
How To Defeat Corius The Icetalon in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Keeping your distance while using fire attacks, ranged attacks and crowd control abilities works best against Corius the Icetalon in Dragon Age The Veilguard. However, if you are wondering why you can’t do any significant damage to this dragon then you should know that it’s intended to be this way. You don’t need to bring down the entirety of its health bar to end the fight.
After dealing as much damage as possible, the fight will end earlier than expected when you have taken out about a third of Corius The Icetalon’s health bar. At this point, a cutscene will fly away and retreat from combat, ending the “On Deadly Wings” quest. So, now that you know that the fight doesn’t last as long as you were expecting it to, let’s get into the strategy for getting its health down by a third as fast and easily as possible.
Strategy For Fighting Corius The Icetalon
- As you may have seen and guessed by the name, Corius the Icetalon wields the power of ice, so naturally its weakness is fire. Make sure to have Davrin in your party as he is able to dish out some decent fire damage. He can be used in combo with Lucanis as he can detonate those abilities to deal fire damage.
- At some point in the fight, you will see Corius the Icetalon’s feet start to glow in a purple shade. Utilize the purple weak spot and focus your and your team’s attack there as it will deal extra damage. However, if you are playing as a warrior and go near it to dish out damage, don’t stay there for too long as Corius the Icetalon will kick you away which does a significant amount of damage to you.
- Eventually, you will manage to stun Corius the Icetalon and he will fall to his side with his belly showing. This will now also be glowing purple like the feet and allow you to do a lot of extra damage. You should use all your saved-up powerful attacks here.
- If you didn’t manage to get a third of its health bar down after stunning him the first time, you should only really need to do this once more for the fight to end. Just keep dodging, keep your distance until you get those purple glowing points, and use your powerful charged attacks there.
After a third of its health bar is taken out, you will have defeated Corius the Icetalon for the “On Deadly Wings” quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. But as you may have already guessed, you will have a different quest later in the game where you get to face the mighty beast again. If you are trying to improve your relationship with Taash instead of Neve or Lucanis, you should know how to solve the Treasure of Sharkmouth Mountain puzzle as it is part of Taash’s quest.
