Dead Island 2 brings the fun in the zombie apocalypse genre, as you try to navigate the zombie infested city and complete missions for rewards. If you love shooting down zombies while trying to solve the mystery of the zombie outbreak, then this game is for you. With the latest patch update, you can unlock a new mode called the Neighborhood Watch.
This mode gives you new characters, new goals, and new zombie enemies to tackle. There is also a new secret mission within this mode in Dead Island 2, and this guide will show you how to unlock the 29th mission in the game; the Vertical Slice Mission.
How to Unlock The Vertical Slice Secret Mission In Dead Island 2
The Secret 29th Mission in Neighborhood Watch in Dead Island 2 unlocks after performing a series of steps over 4 days, and we have listed a step by step guide below:
Day 1
Play the game till you reach the end of the day or are dead, after which you will retire to your safehouse. Investigate the shelves in the basement of the safehouse to find an unusual coin on top of the guitar case. Take the coin up to the arcade machine inside the safehouse and use it there.
Day 2 and Day 3
After activating the arcade machine, wait for the next day to start your next task. During Day 2 and Day 3, you need to find 4 secret trophies. They can spawn randomly within 6 locations split into three between the Speedway and Canals maps. The trophies can spawn anywhere within these 6 locations, so you need to explore each one to get all four. The locations where you can spot the trophies are listed below:
Speedway Map
- Head over to the River Delivery warehouse and investigate the boxes stacked outside the store.
- There is a blue, two-storied house in front of the Fast Travel store. Head up the stairs outside the house to find a trophy
- Make your way towards the tunnel that leads into the sewers and head inside the gates of the large white house on the right. On the left is a small garden, where you might find a trophy hidden within the bushes.
Canals Map
- Outside your spawn point, turn left, and unlock the garage of the brown-painted house with a surveillance camera. You can find a trophy on the table inside the garage.
- Exit the brown house and enter the alleyway on the right side of it. Head over to the small stream with a bridge. Cross over and walk behind the ruined blue/purple colored house. There are a few tyres in the garden where a trophy can spawn.
- From your last location, head over to the southern corner of the map till you find a red building near a dead end. In front of the grilled gate is a barricade, and behind the barricade you can find a trophy.
After collecting all four trophies, end the day and head back to your safehouse.
Day 4
Back at your safehouse, place all four trophies inside the hollow space in the shelf next to the front door. Once done, visit the mission portal and you will find a new mission called Vertical Slice. It can either appear in the Speedway or Canals map. Completing this mission is a great way to earn a ton of XP, and there is a fun Easter Egg where the game developers of Dead Island 2 appear as zombies.
Now all that is left is to run around and kill all the zombified devs to complete the Vertical Slice mission. You can rinse and repeat the steps above to unlock this mission if you are looking for an easy XP farm.
