Code Vein 2 – Edward the Lost Corporal Boss Guide

Depending on the order you do the early quests of Code Vein 2 in, Edward will be either the first or second boss you face. He’s located on MagMell Island, and you’ll face him after you get to the research building with Noah and speak to Valentin to be sent on your next quests.

    Finding Edward’s Boss Room

When you go to the Southern Ruins and speak with the motorcyclist outside of them, your quest updates to finding a specific Forma that he’s looking for. Of course, that Forma is in the hands of the boss.

You’ll find the entrance to Edward’s boss room at the circle on your map. There’s a stone on the left side that you attune to in order to return there if you die, saving you from having to go through the ruins repeatedly.

    Edward’s Attacks

Edward doesn’t have a lot of abilities that he’s going to throw at you, and he moves slowly enough that you generally have time to dodge his attacks.

The attacks you’ll see the most are his melee combos and charge. Each melee combo has three swings. One combo is all swipes, meaning you want to move back out of his range, as he takes up a large area with each swipe.

The other combo is vertical strikes, so you want to move to the side for these, as there’s a delay after the third strike when his weapon is in the ground, giving you the chance to attack him freely.

For Edward’s shoulder charge, he raises his weapon and gets into a semi-crouched position. Like most charge attacks, he’s unable to change his path when he’s locked in. Just like the vertical combo, dodge to the side to stay in the area he’ll charge towards, letting you get in some free attacks.

The final, and most annoying attack, is Edward’s red blobs. He’ll do a shout and spawn a bunch of red blobs around him, which break into gas that deals constant damage. I recommend just getting away from him when he does this attack. It might lead to him doing a charge to close the distance, but it’s better to drag him out of the red gas until it fades. Otherwise, you’re just letting him do free damage to you if you stand in it.

    Getting a Special Drain Attack

You’ll likely have Jail as your drain attack at this point because there just aren’t many options yet. Edward has a bunch of yellow lines when you start fighting him. As you deal damage, they turn red. When all the lines are red instead of gold, use your Drain Attack on Edward for a small cutscene and deal a massive chunk of damage to him.

With that, you should be prepared to face Edward and defeat him for the Forma he has, especially if you’ve picked up the pre-order weapon for a nice bonus.
