For each action you perform in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you should expect an equal consequence. If you find yourself being a risk taker, then you might be on the lookout for trouble. There are some strange creatures to find in Avalon like the Croakmaw, and once you find them, you get an option to pet them. But things can take a dark turn, as the Croackmaw can bite off your arm when you pet it. If you are wondering whether you can get your arm back, keep reading below.
Pet or Kill the Croakmaw and Consequences

If you pet the Croakmaw, it will bite your arm off, and there is no way to get it back later through any other side quests or searching for it anywhere. Even if you kill the Croakmaw after it has done the deed, you won’t find your arm anywhere. So, no; you should not pet the Croakmaw. However, what we recommend that you do is create a save before reaching the location of the Croakmaw (we have the details for this below), then pet it, and let it bite your arm off. The reason is this unlocks a secret achievement.
You can then reload the earlier save and continue your game with both your hands intact. While technically you can continue playing the game with one hand, we strongly advise against it. For starters, two-handed weapons will be off the table, as well as off-hand equipment like shields. Also, you might miss out on certain quests that require you to hold items in your other hand or use both hands, and mining or digging up treasure won’t be on your cards now.
How to Get Your Arm Back
There is only one way to get your arm back, and that is to reload your last save. Before meeting the Croakmaw, save your game nearby so you can reload your save after facing the consequences of your actions. Also, if you are looking to add the The Cost of Curiosity achievement to your growing list, then this is the only way to get the achievement and keep your arms intact.
With all this now known and in place, if you are looking for the Croakmaw to unlock this trophy, read below for possible spawn locations.
Croakmaw Location in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

You might encounter a sleeping Croakmaw in Act 2, once you reach the second region. Over here, after you are done exploring Good Cleric’s cave in Cuanacht, there is a high chance you will stumble across an abandoned campsite near the river. The easiest way to get here is by heading south from the Wyrd Tower Fast Travel Shrine. There is a strange, deformed creature residing at the camp, and you can interact with it to get a unique option.

Another place you can check out for the Croakmaw is in Act 1’s Horns of the South region. But the creature over here is quite aggressive, so the option to pet it might not appear when you meet it for the first time. The location to find the Croakmaw in Act 1 is marked above. Some players have encountered another Croakmaw in Act 3, but its location is unknown.
