For those still finding out on their own, Cairn can be a pretty difficult game. The climbing is extremely precise, and if you haven’t quite yet gotten everything mastered, you’re in for a challenge.
Collecting all three pieces of the Troglodyte Doll several hours into the game is one such test you’ll put yourself through. Thankfully, this is actually an optional activity, so you don’t need to take it on if you don’t want to.
The Doll, however, does have a very important use, and it also earns you the Meteorologist Trophy/Achievement if you can manage to put all the pieces back together. Here’s how it all works.
How To Find The Troglodyte Doll Map

Eventually, on the main story path, you’ll reach a section of the map called The Village. Remember that there’s no way to check the name of the map section you’re currently on, so you’ll have to take note when you’re at a save point to see where you are.
Once here and as you begin to climb, you’ll notice several doorways you can head towards and go inside of. In one of these, you can find a map left behind by a former resident of the mountain. It’s the door pictured above.

You’re looking for this sort of bath house within which you’ll be able to pick up a crude map to the Trogdolyte Doll pieces. There are three pieces in total to collect.
Now, simply keep heading up The Village until you reach the next section of Cairn just above called The Standing Stones.
Finding The First Doll Piece

Once here, you can pull out the Trogdolyte Doll map, which will overlay paths you can climb upwards, colored differently to designate which path is easiest. You’ll notice three different paths and areas to search for the doll pieces.

For this reason, I actually first chose to go to the far right of this area to a section called The Child. If you check the map again, you’ll see there’s a search area at the top where you can find one of the doll pieces.
Climb up the giant statue, and take note that you can stop at the head of it to enter a cave. If you want to take a pitstop, you can find a Troglodyte Piton in here, but it involves some pretty intense climbing to reach.

Either way, keep heading up. Use my path for reference if you’re having trouble.

Eventually, you’ll be able to spot the first doll piece (actually Doll Part III) waiting for you on a sort of altar. Pick it up. Note that each doll piece takes up backpack space, so you’ll need to make sure you have room for it as well.

Now, you have two options. You can head back to the bottom of this area and climb up to the next doll piece search areas, or you can go ahead and make the rest of the climb upward. I chose the latter.

The reason for this is that it’s actually a bit easier to climb back down to the remaining two doll pieces from above. Talk to Marco at the back of this new area with the giant lake, watch a cutscene, and then get back to your doll search.
Finding The Second Doll Piece

For the second piece, backtrack a bit and note this part of the map when you can drop down above the doll search area on the far left, opposite on this wall of where you found the doll piece on The Child.
Admittedly, this is a little finicky. If you wander too far trying to get the best again to drop down, Cairn will designate you “out of bounds” and force you to respawn. Above is where I managed to drop down.

Looking at the map again, you’ll notice an alcove in the doll search area of this section. This is where the next doll piece is waiting for you.

To be clear, this was the trickiest part of the entire process. I rappelled down as far as I could, but still had to do some creative climbing to get to my final destination since my rope wouldn’t reach all the way.
With this doll piece in hand, you’ll want to head back to the top of this cliffside. Here was my route above.
Finding The Third Doll Piece

The third piece is the easiest one from here, so if you’ve made it this far, you’re almost home free. From the top section where you met Marco, rappel straight down from here and reach a landing.

Next, send your climbot to retrieve your rope, then rappel down again, and you should pretty much be directly on top of the third and final doll piece.
Troglodyte Doll Usage

With that, the Troglodyte Doll is reassembled. Yes, it kind of looks like a creepy voodoo doll, but that’s okay.
In addition to earning you the Meteorologist Trophy, the doll has one more awesome use. Though there’s no way to know to what extent, having the assembled doll in your backpack keeps bad weather away from you more often.

This is huge, since you surely know by now that rain can make your climbs infinitely more difficult in Cairn. Enjoy sunnier skies and keep moving up.
