After waiting for what felt like forever as a fan of climbing games, Cairn is finally here, rounding off the Game Baker’s trilogy.
It’s a game that more than lives up to the brilliance of its predecessors, Haven and Furi, offering a methodical survival climber experience like no other. Which means, as you climb the mountain, you need to be on the lookout for anything that might give you that extra boost to make the next climb.
One example is found early in the game, where you have the opportunity to nab some honey from bees on the mountain. But rest assured, the climb isn’t an easy one, even if it is early in the game.
How To Get The Beekeepers Map

While this isn’t strictly necessary, I would suggest that any newcomers do this, not only to get better at climbing. But also, to get the rewards for completing each climb.
In the climbing gym before you set off for Kami, you’ll be able to test your skills and climb up to right unique climbing walls. Which, if you do, you’ll be able to unlock a lockbox in the gym with some goodies.

Here is what is included in the box:
- Beekeeper’s Map
- Kurinol
- Self-Screwing Piton
- Protein Bar
The key item here is the Beekeepers Map, as this will point out exactly on the upcoming cliff face where you’ll find the beehive, allowing you to plan your route accordingly.
Where Is The Honey In Cairn?

So, using this map, or just using your beady eye, you’ll come to notice an alcove of sorts when you reach the second flat spot after the various save points following the initial climb out of the gym.
If you look up, you’ll see a little yellow dangling thing in the middle of the alcove. This is the Beehive you’re looking for.
To get the honey, you’ll need to be able to literally reach out and touch this hive, so there’s no shortcuts here.

To reach this hive, I would suggest you follow the route shown above.
Is The Honey Worth Getting?

In the early stages of the game, just about any rare ingredient is worth getting. Mainly because you’ll need all the resources you can to avoid starving or freezing to death.
Honey is a decent product on its own as it offers a boost of twenty points to your overall health. However, it’s even better to cook with.

This is because this can be added to other recipes and items to make them ‘extra sweet’. Which essentially means they will give you a speed boost and more stamina when consumed.
