Cairn – How To Find & Escape The Bear (Grizzly Woman Trophy)

Trophy and achievement hunters of the world, unite. If you’re here, it’s more than likely because you’ve noticed the Grizzly Woman trophy on your to-do list, and you’re wondering how to get it done.

Well, I’m something of a trophy hunter myself, Peter Parker. And luckily for you, I’ve also survived the bear in Cairn, and now I can tell you all about it.

Truth be told, there’s actually nothing to this trophy at all. The only way you can mess this one up is simply if you don’t know where to look for it and miss the opportunity entirely. Aside from that, this is one of the easiest trophies in the game. Here’s how it works.

    Finding The Bear’s Cave

The Grizzly Woman trophy is earned by encountering the bear in Cairn without becoming a picnic for the ferocious beast. In order to locate it, however, you first must track down its cave.

After making your way up from The Village and The Standing Stones, you’ll reach an area called The Two Hundred Steps. If you need some more direction on how to get here, it’s the spot on the mountain immediately after your Northern Lights experience in a cutscene with Marco.

Grab the save point here, then make your way up this makeshift staircase that’s conveniently laid out on the mountainside.

At the top of these stairs is a very obvious cave entrance. Like any good explorer, you should go ahead and take a look around inside to search for anything useful.

And wouldn’t you know it! This fellow climber was so kind as to die in this cave and leave you some helpful things behind. How thoughtful! Of course, perhaps there’s a reason he perished in this cave. Hmm… Eh, no bother.

The most useful thing he has waiting for you is the Survival Blanket, which is incredibly handy. Even when you’re away from your tent and unable to rest, the Survival Blanket will allow you to take a moment to warm up, crucial to your survival on Mount Kami.

This cave is a dead end, so you might as well head back out the way you came and continue your climb.

    Wait… Uh oh.

    Escaping The Bear

Friends, meet the bear. As you turn around after scavenging your deceased climber buddy, the bear appears. Quite rudely, it’s also standing between you and the exit of the cave. What should you do?

Kids, don’t try this at home. But to escape the bear in Cairn, you just need to… walk right on by it. The bear doesn’t actually attack you, and leaves ample space for you to scoot on by and be back on your way.

That said, if you run and startle the big guy, you’ll get mauled. So, try not to rumble to the big teddy bear.

The bear will follow you all the way back to the cave entrance and stick his head out, preventing you from coming back in. That’s about as intense as things get, however. In fact, you can even stop for a fun photo shoot with the critter if you so desire.

With that, you’ve now earned the Grizzly Woman trophy, which, despite how intimidating it sounded, is actually one of the easiest trophies in all of Cairn to get.
