Rippa Roadbirds is one of the many bosses you’ll encounter in your Borderlands 4 journey, just like Callis and Idolator. The trio of rippers is one of the preferred ways for players to farm items in-game, as they drop some great legendaries in Borderlands 4. Even if you don’t want to aim for the legendaries, one of the two possible loot drops from the boss makes the effort of farming the Rippa Roadbirds absolutely worth it.

    Rippa Roadbirds Legendary Drops

After you defeat Rippa Roadbirds, they can drop two legendary loot rewards in-game, and both of them are weapons. The first is an assault rifle named Wombo Combo, and the second is a grenade named Spinning Blade.

    Wombo Combo

A legendary assault rifle, Wombo Combo is one of the two guns you can receive as a legendary weapon after defeating the Rippa Roadbirds. This is a gun manufactured by Vladof that automatically fires rockets from its underbarrel after every fifth bullet shot.

Wombo Combo comes in every elemental variant available in Borderlands 4, and while bonuses like “Bullet Hose” won’t apply to the rockets, it still applies to the actual bullets fired. Not only that, Rip Rockets don’t have an ammo pool, and always trigger after the fifth bullet shot. So, if you want a weapon that deals a crazy amount of damage against enemies, Wombo Combo is the weapon to seek out.

    Spinning Blade

Spinning Blade, as the name suggests, is a grenade ordinance that looks like a blade, but acts like a grenade. Manufactured by Jakobs, Spinning Blade comes with a unique quirk, where if you throw it at an enemy and it successfully hits them, it will ricochet. Then, if you manage to catch the blade after it ricochets, it instantly refills your grenade counter by one charge, letting you throw it again.

Spinning Blade doesn’t come with any other quirks of its own. Furthermore, it can be a little finicky to use, unless you can catch the blade every single time.

    How to Defeat Rippa Roadbirds

Rippa Roadbirds is a boss fight that involves fighting three different characters – Lil’ Grunt, Baby Grunt, and Gruntabulous Vork. You start the boss fight by visiting the Saw’s Clench, which is a ripper drill site. Unlike most boss fights, Rippa Roadbirds don’t have various phases of fights. All three bosses appear at the same time, right after you clear the drill site of the inhabiting enemies. Defeating them is very simple. Keep these things in mind when fighting them:

    • Keep your distance from the Rippas: Avoid going near the Rippas. Once you go near them, they start using the pod flames to damage your character, effectively downing you. So, avoid going close to them at all.
    • Strafe and dodge the projectiles: Rippas will throw projectiles that deal high splash and AoE (Area of Effect) damage, which will quickly chew out your health. When you see the three bosses arriving, start focusing on one of them, and keep moving and dodging to avoid the projectiles.
    • Shock and Incendiary weapons are your friends: If you have shock and incendiary weapons in your inventory, it immediately becomes a cakewalk fighting the three bosses. Use a shock weapon to damage their shield. When the shield is down, use the incendiary weapon to deal damage to their health.
    • Second Wind is your friend: When you fight the three bosses, multiple enemies will keep spawning around the boss room, damaging you. Instead of killing all of them, leave some of them around so if you fall in the fight, you can take advantage of the Second Wind and return to the battle.

If you follow the above tips, fighting Rippa Roadbirds won’t be a problem, and you can reap the benefits of the legendary weapons, and possibly a lot of other weapons of various rarities at the same time.
