Blue Protocol: Star Resonance features a robust gear progression system, akin to any MMO out there. Newcomers can receive new gear, refine it, and improve their stats. However, each of these tasks is tied to specific things in-game, which can be difficult to track and do unless you know where to go and what to do.
So, if you are a beginner Blue Protocol: Star Resonance player, and you want to understand gear progression after the first couple of hours, here’s how the system works. Furthermore, you can also learn how to improve gear performance as a whole.
How to Get New Gear in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

You get gear in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance by doing the in-game dungeons. The game features two types of dungeons: the Daily Unstable dungeons and six permanent dungeons of the Chaotic Realm. Fortunately, there’s no stamina requirement for any dungeon. You can participate in them at any time you want.
While the Daily Unstable dungeons are the easy ones, they drop only early game gear. This is best for players who have just arrived at the game and want to sample what the dungeon feels like. Once you have gotten the hang of the gameplay and combat mechanics, you should line up for the permanent dungeons in the Chaotic Realm.
Depending on what difficulty you choose in the Chaotic Realm, you’ll get a different type of gear. Normal difficulty drops level 40 Epic Gear, whereas Hard mode drops level 40 Legendary Gear. Also, every dungeon drops only a specific type of gear. It isn’t randomized, and depending on which part you really want, you’ll have to grind that particular dungeon. So, the good thing is you can plan towards a build, and then pick the right dungeon to get appropriate gear.
Master Dungeon and Rewards
Over time, the devs have plans to introduce a Master mode, which will allow you to select a higher difficulty level than Hard. That difficulty level itself will have 9 sub-levels. Master level 1 to 5 will drop level 60 Legendary Gear, whereas Master Level 6 onward will drop level 80 Legendary Gear.
How to Reforge and Upgrade Your Gears (Reforge Stones)

To reforge and upgrade in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, you require a material called the Reforge Stone. This stone allows you to upgrade every piece of gear and weapon in-game, and make them stronger.
The Reforge Stones are dropped from participating in the Chaotic Realm as a reward. While there is no cap on how many Reforge Stones you can use, there is a daily cap on how many Reforge Stones you can get from the dungeon. You can still run the dungeons to farm for gear, just not the stones.
Reforge Stones can also be obtained by completing daily and weekly tasks, which is one of the more important beginner tips to keep in mind for Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.
Once you have your desired gear and the Reforged Stones, visit the Gear Enhanced artisan and interact with him to start reforging your gear. Reforging increases the perfection of the gear – essentially increasing the fixed advanced attribute stat each gear comes with. So if your gear has a Crit of 80 and Haste of 40, it will incrementally rise with each Reforge (upgrade).
It also assigns an additional attribute to the gear, right below the Advanced Attribute. This is randomized, and each Reforge roll changes it. It ranges from Crit to Luck, and keep rolling it as many times as you want, until you run out of your Reforge Stone. Remember, Gear Reforging caps out at 100, but you can still roll for the additional attribute assigned to your gear for a desired one.
Dismantling reforged gear will return all your Reforge Stones to the exact number. The game doesn’t penalize you for that. So, if you ever get yourself a good set of gear and you want to upgrade it, you can always dismantle your old gear to get back the Reforge Stones.
How to Refine Your Gear To Perform Better

Gear refinement is performed at the Gear Enhanced artisan, and is the second tab. Gear refinement is independent of the gear and is character-specific. It isn’t tied to any gear, and regardless of whether you change class or gear, the refinement will stay with you.
Refinement is completely RNG-based, so the higher you refine, the higher the success rate of refinement drops. If you fail refinement, you will lose materials. So, be extra careful before performing refinement. However, every time you fail a refinement, your chances of refining the next time go up. So, it’s a balancing act of sorts. To refine, you require these items:
- A Starforge Crystal
- A Mystery Metal (Required for Helmet, Armor, and Weapons)
- Radiant Stone (Required for Boots, Earrings, Necklaces, and Gauntlets)
- Fine Forgestone
You get Starforge Crystal from doing dungeons, and the Mystery Metal from doing life skills, specifically mining and smelting. So, do some life skills in your downtime whenever you get a chance. It is best to refine everything evenly and level up to 10. Then, you can focus on refining a particular thing to higher levels.
With this, we hope any of your lingering doubts around gear progression in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance are put to rest for a while. If you are a beginner and don’t know where to begin, you can check out our beginner’s guide.
