With so many resources and items to obtain in No Man’s Sky, it can get overwhelming quickly, especially when it comes to resources like Radon which you need in abundance. Thankfully, by making planetary bases, you can farm things like Radon fast and efficiently by setting up a dedicated resource gathering and extraction base. Here is the best way to farm Radon in No Man’s Sky.

Setting up a planetary base with Gas Extractors inside a Hotspot on a Frozen or Radioactive planet is the best way to farm Radon in No Man’s Sky. But for that, you will need a blueprint for Gas Extractors which can be bought with Nanites at the Space Anomaly. You can still find these hotspots even if it’s a corrupted planet.

Additionally, you will also need the Survey Device module for your Multi-tool which will allow you to detect Gas Hotspots on the planet’s surface where you can farm Radon. The blueprint for it can be obtained by purchasing it with Nanites from Iteration: Eos NPC on the Space Anomaly.

Once you have the blueprint for Gas Extractors and have the Survey Device installed on your Multi-tool, here is what you need to do:

    1. Find a planet that is either a Frozen type or a Radioactive type in any system and land on it.
    2. Use the Survey Device on your Multi-tool to find a Gas Hotspot.
    3. When you find one, analyze the Hotspot and make sure it’s a Radon Hotspot.
      • You can also check the class of the Hotspot, S-class Hotspots will give you the most yield.
    4. Once you found a suitable Hotspot, put down a Base Computer in the general area and claim the surrounding land as your base.
    5. Place down a few power sources like Solar Panels.
    6. Now place down as many Gas Extractors as you can build inside the Hotspot, and make sure all are powered.
      • Try and build the Gas Extractors close to the center of the Hotspot as you get the most yield in the center.
    7. You now have a Radon farm set up and ready to go, you can now explore and do whatever you want to while the Gas Extractors will now collect Radon automatically over a period of time.

Make sure to keep expanding this base with more Gas Extractors to meet your needs. You can have many Gas Extractors inside a single Hotspot. You can also try and find another Hotspot within your base boundaries to set up even more Gas Extractors to farm Radon in No Man’s Sky.

The main use for Radon in No Man’s Sky is to craft Enriched Carbon which then further leads to many other items that require Enriched Carbon. You will need Condensed Carbon x50 and Radon x250 to craft Enriched Carbon x1. Besides that, Radon can also be used as a secondary material while refining some items in the medium or large refiner to increase the output or have it as a substitute.
