Sneaking around and taking out enemies from the shadows is a thrilling experience. If you have the perfect set on with perfect skills and abilities, you will flow through the area like water and take out the guards with perfect critical hits. Here in this guide, we will look at everything you need to build a perfect Stealth character in Oblivion Remastered.
Perfect Race For Stealth Build

The best Race option for a Stealth Build is the Dark Elf. The other two great alternatives are Khajiit and Argonian. Here we must pay focus to Security, Marksmanship, and Athletics.
- Argonian – +10 to Athletics and Security
- Dark Elf – +5 Skills to Marksman
- Khajiit – +10 in Acrobatics and Hand to Hand, but +5 to Security and Sneak
Khajiit has been the favorite amongst many Oblivion players for playing the Stealth character because of his agility and acrobatics. Argonians can also be great at Stealth, as their ability to breathe underwater can make an underwater escape a viable option in the game.
Perfect Class/ Attributes For Stealth Build

Class Details:
Here, you should create a custom class that reflects the following abilities: Acrobatics, Light Armor, Mercantile, Blade Security, Sneak, and lastly, Marksman. You can skip the Blade if you solely want to focus on a Marksman Sneak build. But we recommend carrying a dagger as a backup or a change in scenery.
Attributes Details:
Attribute selection is another major focus in building a Stealth character in Oblivion. Here are some details on the attributes fitting for a Stealth Build: Luck, Speed, and Agility.
In Oblivion Remastered, you must invest in Agility and Speed to perfect your Stealth. Agility will impact your marksman ability and sneak attack. Both of them are crucial for the Stealth Build. Another attribute that you shouldn’t skip out on is Luck.
Luck influences on everything you do in the game, but more importantly, on the critical hit chances. Since you are going to be doing a lot of sneaking around and hitting enemies from the dark, having a good critical chance will land a critical hit that will kill the enemy right away.
Best Birthsign For a Stealth Build

You shouldn’t skip over Birthsigns, they will add more power to your build. Here are some of the best Birthsigns for the Stealth Build:
- The Steed Birthsign – Grants a speed boost to your character.
- The Thief Birthsign – Grants a boost to your Agility, Speed, and Luck.
- The Shadow Birthsign – Grants you the ability to turn invisible for 60 seconds per day.
Out of all three options, we highly recommend the Thief Birthsign, since you are getting an all-around Birthsign that covers all the major key skills. Second best would be to pick Steed Birthsign, adding a speed boost to your Stealth character will make the gameplay crouch faster.
Best Marksman Armor
Shrouded Armor – The set worn by every Dark Brotherhood member in the game. An amazing set for anyone who wants to run a Stealth build in Oblivion. The armor holds the following key traits:
- Weight Details: The armor and the hood weigh around 2.85 Encumbrance. A perfect light armor combination for a Stealth Build.
- Health – 520 Health for both Armor and Hood.
- Protection – 17.5 Damage resistance, the rate is decent for a Stealth Build, since you will not be in the frontal combat. As you will spend more time picking your targets at a distance with your Bow, or walking behind the enemy and hitting them with your dagger.
- Enchantments: 10 points (8pts Armor + 2 pts Hood) for Sneak, Illusion, Marksman, Blade, and lastly Acrobatics.
Where to Get: You must join the Dark Brotherhood to get the set from Ocheeva. You need to kill an NPC in the game. Make sure the NPC is not quest-related or has anything to do with the main questline. Just kill an innocent bystander, next time you fall asleep, you will get the invitation to the Dark Brotherhood.
The other set would be Elven or any Leather armor, making sure anything you put on is Light Armor, and you will do fine as a Stealth character.
Best Marksman Bow

Here we are looking for pure damage, nothing comes close to Daedric, but it will be a while before the game drops the Daedric set. At the start of the game, you will find plenty of Iron and Steel Bows. Eventually, you will find the Glass and Ebony variety.
Shadowhunt:
It is an enchanted variation of the common Steel Bow, but it packs quite a few advantages compared to a common Bow.
- Weight Details: 8 Encumbrance, so it will not take up too much weight in your inventory.
- Damage – 10, nothing special, decent amount of damage early on in the game.
- Enchantment – Deals damage to Health and Magica by 20 pts (at level above 25), Weakness to poison by 20%, and Turns Undead up to level 32.
Where to Get: Completing the quest Lonely Wanderer and the Dark Brotherhood quest will grant you Shadowhunt.
Since your priority is on the build, you can almost pick up any Bow and deal a good amount of damage far away.
Best Dagger
You can have a Dagger as a backup, just in case, if the archery fails. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a Dagger, you can add any Blade or Blunt weapon. But since we added points to the Blade, we are going to pick the Dagger. Since they weigh less than an average Long Blade.
Enchanted Dagger: It deals 9 damage and weighs around 5 Encumbrance. A perfect fit for any Stealth Build. A good weapon to have on the back if things go wrong or if you want to change your gameplay from archer to an assassin.
Where to Get: Completing the Vampire Cure questline. Melisande will hand you the Enchanted Dagger.
Just pick any Steel or Silver Dagger, and you will deal with fewer problems early on in the game. Over time, you can extend the arsenal to new weapons such as a Daedric Dagger or Bow combination. Or if you are feeling more powerful, a Daedric Long Blade, combined with a Daedric Bow.
