Aloft features plenty of crafting, often these crafting systems are intertwined with each other. Before we set our eyes on Wool Sails, we must get our hands on Wool Cloth in Aloft. Wool Sails is a critical part of our journey, as it would allow us to reach the second biome Fallen Heights in the game. In the guide, we will break down how can you craft Wool Sails in Aloft.
How To Get Wool In Aloft

We will find Wool by using Shears on sheep, alpacas, or lambs.
To create Wool Cloth for Wool Sail, we first need to produce Wool. Here are the steps to craft Wool in the game:
- Find Sheep: The very first we must do is to look for a sheep, which will be easier, as you will find many roaming around the land. Most of them hang around in lush green areas. Once you have seen a sheep, interact with the E key to send it to your home island.
- Feeding Sheep: Feed the sheep with Hay (3x Small Plants) to help it grow wool on its body. If you have bought a lamb, then you must wait before it can grow old and produce the woo. But a sheep can do it quickly after it has been fed.
- Craft and Use Shears: You will need Wood x1, Sharp Stone x2, and Hardstone x1 to craft a pair of Shears. Carved Wood can be crafted by merging 3x Wood with 1x Hard Stone. Then you can use the Shears to cut off the wool from the sheep. A single sheep will give you 1x wool.
Note: Sheep will regrow their wool but it will take a few in-game days. Keeping the sheep well-fed is the best way for them to regrow their wool.
Bug Alert: Some players have reported seeing their livestock disappearing in thin air. No fix is available now, hopefully, it will get fixed in the next update.
Now that we have the Wool for the sail, we will need to craft Loom.
Steps To Unlock Wool Cloth By Unlocking The Loom In Aloft

Loom allows us to make fabric out of fibers.
Loom can be unlocked by obtaining a Knowledge stone. These stones will be marked as a ‘?’ fresco on the table map. That’s the indicator you must use to get the knowledge stone. You will unlock Loom on the third region in the outer circle of the map, where it appears as a “?“.
Emerald Isles serves as a starting area, so you will find early technology in the zone, and you will run out of stuff to do. This is the way the game tells you to move on to different biomes to start unlocking new recipes.
You can craft the Loom with “Wood x10, Rope x5“. Once you have a functional Loom machine in your camp, you can craft 3x Wool Cloth for a single piece of Wool in your possession.
Tips for Wool Cloth Gathering
- While manually feeding the sheep with hay might seem useful at first, the game offers much better methods to maintain the livestock. Here you can rely on automated feeding by using Trough to make the sheep well-fed.
- Unlocking new recipes will always going to help with the wool cloth production.
- Using better tools such as Bone Axe will help you gather materials faster. Check out our guide on how to craft Bone Axe in the game.
- Playing on Multiplayer can also help you gather resources much faster for your Wool Cloth production.
