Borderlands 4 has an overwhelming amount of easter eggs, from Claptrap’s bat signal to movie and video game references. So it was a difficult task to compile all of them into a few interesting ones. We will also have an honorable section at the end of the guide pointing out the easter eggs that didn’t make it. Here are all of the best Borderlands 4 Easter Eggs.
Easter Egg #1: “Oh my god, it even has a watermark.”

Where to Find: During the mission No Place Like Home. Once you defeat an enemy, it drops a mission item. While you can pick up the item without reading it, if you do read it, you will get the easter egg for the movie.
The famous Patrick Bateman line from the movie American Psycho can be seen in one of the mission items in the game.
Easter Egg #2: Tannis Fish
Where to Find: Get to the northwest point of Coastal Bonescape.
A long-running gag of easter eggs in the Borderlands series. And Tannis riding a fish has made a comeback in Borderlands 4 as well. Here, around a wooden platform, you will find four different types of barrels. If you shoot them in order of:
Corrosive (Green)> Cryo (Light Blue)> Incendiary (Red)> Shock(Blue) > Radiation(Yellow)
You will trigger the Tannis easter egg and a fantastic performance in the water.
Easter Egg #3: “You’ve been smooching with everybody.”
Where to Find: You will find the line on an Assault Rifle given by Moxii after giving her A Big Ol’ Tip for $1000.
The line is from the beloved Christmas classic Home Alone. You will hear a gangster say the line in an old movie that Kevin watches in Home Alone. The gangster old movie is called Angels with Filthier Souls.
Easter Egg #4: Turn off and on Claptrap
Where to Find: Head to the Audio option in the settings.
You can lower or downright turn off Claptrap in the game. Just head over to the Audio option and under Dialog, you will see the option for “Claptrap?”. If you lower the meter, Claptrap will voice his opinion with new lines. And you will also hear new dialogue when you decide to raise the Claptrap? Audio bar to 100%.
Easter Egg #5: Taking Shot at Emracer Group
Where to Find: Head to the Embracer’s Bluff area
Here, Borderlands 4 takes a shot at Embracer Group by creating a fictional city that reflects the entire Embracer Group’s business model. Back in 2021, Embracer bought Gearbox, but later, they sold the company to Take-Two for $460 million. Suffice to say, the time working under the Embracer Group was not pleasant for Gearbox.
Easter Egg #6: Dunks Watson Basketball

Where to Find: At the end of the mission, and Welcome to the Jam (Space Jam Reference)
When Dunks Watson jumps in Borderlands Pre-Sequel, he flies off into space by yelling the first part of basketball. He flies into the air without finishing saying the word basketball, as the scene ends, with Watson screaming, “Basketbaaaaaaaaaa….”
We do briefly see Dunks Watson again in Borderlands 3. Well, now in Borderlands 4, we will hear Dunk Watson again, but this time he is going to yell the last part of basketball, “Baaaaaaaaall!”.
Easter Egg #6: REDRUM Shining Reference

Where to Find: Located at Shammy’s Shack.
Here you will find Ole Shammy hanging in the front of the store; he is in the moonshine business. If you take a look at the plates hanging in his store. In one of the plates, the sign reads REDRUM2, referring to the line where Danny writes REDRUM on the door in the cult-classic The Shining.
Easter Egg #7: GenIVIV

Where to Find: In the town of Embracer’s Bluff.
The Maliwan security AI, GenIVIV, that you go head-to-head with in Borderlands 3, now does make an appearance in Borderlands 4, but in an intimate way as it did in the previous title. Now she is reduced to a toilet. If you bring claptrap along with your route to meet GenIVIV in Embracer’s Bluff, you will trigger a line that tells the brief encounter of GenIVIV in Borderlands 3.
Easter Egg #8: MainFrame Soundtrack From Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s Claptastic Voyage

Where to Find: Vend of the Line side quest
One of the best side quests that rewards you with a legendary weapon for 1$. When you are completing the quest, you will get to a section where you must turn on the power. Here you will find a jukebox playing a much too familiar tune. The tune is the track from the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel DLC.
Easter Egg #9: Fake Coding on Terminals
Now there are various terminals scattered throughout the map, while you may not want to pay attention to the writings on the screen. But if you do decide to take a peek at the monitors, you will find various gibberish lines written by the developers. Pull out your sniper rifle and zoom into the terminals to see some amusing lines about all sorts of things.
Easter Egg #10: Secret Reload Animations

Every gun has a specific animation that plays out on reload, but some of them do have a special reload animation that only triggers randomly. So keep reloading a gun to see their special reload animation. Warning: it might not happen quickly, so prepare to waste a lot of bullets to see it play out in your game.
Easter Egg #11: Going AFK
If you go AFK and you are in a town, you will see NPCs in the area dancing, doing jumping jacks, and more. For a second, it will feel like you are dropped in a multiplayer HUB area and watching real-time players doing gestures and emotes. Unlike in multiplayer games, in Borderlands 4, you can witness all of these actions from common NPCs.
Easter Egg #12: Do you remember? The 21st night of September?
Where to find: You will find the line on a Forgeknight Class Mod, Firey Elementalist. It will drop from Primordial Guardian Inceptus, located in Vault of Inceptus.
The line “Do you remember? The 21st night of September” is a callback to the song September by Earth, Wind & Fire.
Easter Egg #13: These ARE the drones you’re looking for.
Where to Find: Carried Away mission
The line in the mission reads, “These ARE the drones you’re looking for.” It’s a reference from the Star Wars movie, where Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi says the same line to the Stormtroopers, but with a bit of change in the middle. Instead of Drones, he used droids in the line. The line in the movie goes, “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.”
Easter Egg #14: Devil-May-Care
Where to Find: Passive skill Devil-May-Care available on Exo-Soldier
It’s a reference to the video game Devil May Cry by Capcom. Other skills here will refer to Stock Market quips. All characters will have their own passives with one unique name, so always be on the lookout for them to catch something off guard.
Easter Egg #15: Marcus Bobbleheads

Where to Find: The entire Kairo has over 200 of these bobbleheads.
If you think finding Fallout bobbleheads is difficult, you can certainly try your luck at locating around 200 or even more bobbleheads in the game. The feat will get accomplished, and hopefully, we will see the reward that awaits such accomplishment.
The list features the most notable easter eggs found in Borderlands 4. You will always going to come across plenty more simply by exploring or reading the details of the item. Check out the Black Market Location Week 2 (Sep 19 – Sep 26) in Borderlands 4.
