With the kind of combat heavy game that Mortal Shell 2 is, it was important for the game to give players a good range of weapons to figure out which one works best for their playstyle. And, I am pleased to say that there is enough and more variety that the developers have added, especially when compared to the first one.
Amidst the selection on offer is the Troubadour’s Lute, an incredibly fun weapon utilizing the power of song to blast enemies from a distance. A personal favorite, allow me to point you to where to find the Mortal Shell 2 Troubadour Lute.
How to Earn the Troubadour’s Lute

The Troubadour’s Lute is found by collecting 3 offerings and unlocking the chest right at the start of the Mushroom Village, a small area filled with old crones. On general exploration once you start the game, you’ll eventually be forced straight through the village, though it has a reward hidden in plain sight.
The village’s old women seem maddened by a strange ritual, enthralled by a woman playing a strange lute. The chest containing the Troubadour’s Lute is sealed by three offerings, hidden around the village.
The first is right up the hill from the dancing old women, taking the form of a strange stone construct with a candle atop it. By interacting with the construct, you’ll ignite the candle and fulfill the offering. Only two left, one at both ends of the village.

The second offering is directly south of the Mushroom Village Beacon, leaning beside a dilapidated house. From the Beacon, follow the path west and take the first left turn you can at the crossroads, moving south. Follow the path to the apex of its curve, and you’ll find the T-shaped construct waiting.

The final offering is towards the northwest of the Mushroom Village Beacon, being tended by two mad old women. Follow the west road again, but at the crossroads head north, following the lower path until you stumble upon the strange site.

Once you activate this last offering, the central chest will unlock. Return to it and pry it open to claim the Troubadour’s Lute, a great crowd control tool with plenty of flavor. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to have any upgrades, at least not in the Beta.
How to Utilize the Troubadour’s Lute

While melee weapons are exactly what you expect from a soulslike, Sidearms are unique ranged weapons that utilize Resolve as their ammunition. Resolve is filled by landing melee attacks and is utilized by Firearms, certain Tarstones, Infusions, and special moves.
The rapid rise and fall of the Resolve gauge make Firearms great to sneak in between attacks, and the Troubadour’s Lute is a great tool for crowd control. Firing explosive shockwaves of song, the Troubadour’s Lute is an incredibly flavorful weapon perfect for faster, single-target melees.
Pairing it with the Axe and Knife is my personal favorite playstyle in the early hours of the game, stunlocking individuals while rocking out with crowds that amass. Now that you’ve found your very own Lute, bring back music in the only way you know how, with your enemies as a captive audience!
