After all the laughs, the tears, and the tested bonds of friendship that make up Chapter 5 of Deltarune, we couldn’t forget to check the darker side of the story. The Weird Route / SnowGrave route continues here in Chapter 5, and although a shorter route than the normal one, it ends with a tantalizing promise of chapters 6 and 7.
What happens? How can you make sure you see this path through to the end? Proceed forward and I’ll give you everything you need to know on Chapter 5’s addition to the Weird Route.
SnowGrave Secured

Before you start, make sure you’re loading Chapter 5 from a save file with Chapter 4 Weird Route completion. To ensure this, continue a SnowGrave route from chapter 2 and, when Kris and Noelle are speaking alone in her room, use the dialogue box to enter Kris before Noelle reaches their end of the couch.
From there, select “Me”, “Because it wasn’t a Dream”, “I heard”, and “It’s not a coincidence”. Any options from there on won’t change the course: you’ve locked in the Weird Route. The Ring goes on, and clearing the chapter will net you a new ending. Use this save file in Chapter 5 to see the day after.
Chapter 5 Weird Route

Once you load your Chapter 4 data, the Light World portion of the day will play very differently.
Leave Home
Kris will sleep through most of the Festival, and you’ll need to mash the direction keys to force them out of bed. Kris’s move speed is heavily reduced, and attempting to interact with anything, even Toriel, will lead to an empty text box.
Closing Festival
After a short cutscene where Susie joins Kris, she’ll mention that Noelle wants to speak to them. You’re then released out onto the Hometown map, with only a few NPCs left to interact with. Most objects still lead to an empty text box, aside from these two NPCs.
Grab Ice Cream
From the Dreemurr house, continue south until you arrive at San’s grocery store. He’s outside running an ice cream stand, offering some to Susie and Kris. Attempting to head straight to the beach without interacting with Sans will prompt Susie to pull you back.
After another short cutscene with heavy references to San’s secret lab in Undertale, you’ll be free to move on.
Meet Noelle at the Lake
Head one screen north and walk to the far right to reach the Lake, where Noelle awaits. Susie will interact with Kris in one more short cutscene before allowing you to move on.
From here, the route splits into two distinct paths. Before the moment of separation, Noelle undergoes a lengthy monologue and takes both of Kris’s hands. From here, you can select either “Stop” or “Proceed”, but the actual choice doesn’t matter.
Kris and Noelle will continue into the lake, and your chance to make a choice comes when both are fully submerged. Let’s go over both.
Failed Weird Route

Once Noelle and Kris are underwater, the screen will begin to fade to white. From here, you’ll be prompted to select one of two Proceed prompts, which reset an invisible timer each time you do. Should you fail to mash fast enough or show hesitation early, the screen will fully fade to white.

Once the screen fades back in, another short cutscene plays where Noelle laments her and Kris’s failure, before the rest of Chapter 5 continues. This route is still tainted, but allows for a full run through the Dark World segment of Chapter 5 as normal. While this is sure to have some consequences, it isn’t the most interesting version of Chapter 5’s Weird Route.
True Weird Route

To get an alternate, premature ending to Chapter 5, focus on mashing either dialogue option once Kris and Noelle are submerged. Both are labeled Proceed, and either works to keep the pair marching forward.
The screen will continue to distort as you force the two further, but keep mashing. Every time you make a selection, the invisible timer will shorten, requiring faster and faster mashing. The last few inputs will occur as the screen is entirely whited out, so don’t stop until the screen cuts to darkness.

From here, a static-filled image will fill the screen, and your Save File itself will be marked in the files of the game. The full cost of this choice isn’t clear yet, but knowing Toby Fox’s previous work, we’re bound to see some major waves once Chapters 6 and 7 finally breach the surface.
