In Dark and Darker, there are nine different classes of characters that you can play around with. Warlock is one of the most versatile classes available in the game, and it has a powerful combination of magic spells and melee abilities. It’s also one of the few classes in the game that has access to anti-healing abilities.
But that doesn’t mean that Warlock is an easy class to learn. Despite all its strengths, the class is weak against Rangers and can have a tough time dealing with fast, aggressive classes. For beginners, starting a new game with Warlock often ends with them taking an early exit. If you’re in the same boat, then we’ve got you covered.
In this guide, we’ll give you a few essential tips to help you learn how to play Warlock in Dark and Darker like a pro. Let’s hop in.
How to Play Warlock – Best Skills and Playstyle
To play Warlock efficiently in Dark and Darker, you want to go with gears with +Magical Healing and run Torture Mastery. This is the bread and butter of every Warlock build in the game, allowing you to regain health by hitting enemies. Considering your spells cost health, this is a must-have perk for any Warlock players.
Build 1 – Sustained Damage with Self-Healing
Blow of Corruption is an important skill that you want to utilize as much as possible. It adds a ton of damage to your melee attacks. Using it whenever it comes off cooldown will help you quickly deal with the monsters in the dungeon. You can also use it to initiate your encounters with other players.
Your other two important damage skills are Curse of Pain and Hellfire. The latter allows you to deal massive damage by taking down mobs easily and sending enemy players running for their lives.
Curse of Pain is a damage-over-time spell that inflicts small initial damage and keeps chucking away at your target’s health for around 10 seconds. This, combined with Torture Mastery, lets you slowly leech your health back. These are the three most important spells to use when you’re running as a Warlock and want to deal consistent damage while keeping your health topped off.
Build 2 – Weapon Buffing and Support
If you want to try a build focusing on buffing up your skills, go with Bloodstained Blade. It buffs up the target’s weapon damage, which is great when you want to chase down enemies with your Longsword or Zweihander.
You can even apply it to your allies, making it a great choice if you’ve got a Barbarian or Fighter on your team.
Build 3 – Blood Pact
Blood Pact is a fun skill in Warlock’s arsenal that transforms you into a Demon with extra health, armor, and magic resistance. It’s a fun build to try out, but it’s not as strong as the other two builds we mentioned above.
When you transform into a Demon, your other abilities get replaced, and you can’t use a melee weapon. However, you deal much more damage with your Bare Handed Attacks and use your Right-Click to fire a Bolt of Darkness that costs 3 HP per cast.
